Senior HR Business Partner
New York City | Hybrid, 2 days per week
We are recruiting a Senior HR Business Partner for an established technology-enabled business in New York.
This is a broad, hands‑on position for an experienced HR generalist who can operate as a trusted partner to the COO and senior leadership while remaining closely involved in day‑to‑day delivery.
The People foundations are already in place. Your role will be to take ownership of them, ensure they work effectively and make thoughtful improvements as the business enters its next stage of development.
What you will be responsible for Senior leadership partnering- Partner with the COO and senior leaders on workforce planning, organisational structure and talent priorities.
- Provide pragmatic, commercially grounded advice on People decisions.
- Coach managers through performance, employee relations, leadership challenges and organisational change.
- Build trust across the business while providing appropriate challenge and clear follow‑through.
- Lead recruitment across GTM, technology, product, finance and operations.
- Partner with hiring managers to define requirements, sourcing strategies and selection processes.
- Manage the complete recruitment journey through interview, offer and onboarding.
- Maintain effective scorecards, interview standards and a strong candidate experience.
- Take ownership of employee relations and performance matters.
- Lead performance and talent‑review cycles, ensuring actions are properly followed through.
- Identify organisational learning needs and develop practical manager and employee training.
- Support leadership development, career growth and ongoing employee capability.
- Improve the employee journey across onboarding, engagement, development, retention and offboarding.
- Use employee feedback and engagement data to identify themes and drive action.
- Oversee HR systems, policies, records, reporting, payroll, benefits and external providers.
- Support compensation, incentive and benefits planning.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state and New York employment requirements.
- Ensure People processes meet the standards expected within a regulated and audited environment.
AI capability is an important part of this role.
You will be expected to use AI tools, automation and People data to improve recruitment, HR workflows, reporting, employee communications and decision‑making.
We are particularly interested in people who can demonstrate how they have:
- Used generative AI tools to improve the quality or speed of HR delivery.
- Automated repetitive recruitment or People operations activity.
- Applied AI or data to identify trends and support better leadership decisions.
- Introduced AI responsibly, with appropriate attention to confidentiality, accuracy and employee trust.
- Helped managers or wider teams adopt AI in their everyday work.
- Strong generalist HR experience within a growing or evolving business.
- Credible experience partnering directly with executives and senior leaders.
- Proven employee relations, performance‑management and manager‑coaching capability.
- Direct experience leading recruitment across multiple functions and levels.
- Strong knowledge of US and New York employment practices.
- Experience across workforce planning, compensation, benefits and People operations.
- Confidence working within a lean People function without relying on large specialist teams.
- The judgement to maintain what works, improve what needs attention and avoid unnecessary change.
- Practical experience using HR technology, data, AI or automation.
- Ability to work from a New York City office three days per week.
Experience with in fintech, SaaS, payments, financial services, technology or another regulated environment would be helpful, but fintech experience is not essential.
