Position OverviewThis is a hybrid role with a requirement to be in the office three days per week. As an HR Employee Relations Business Partner at the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, you will serve as a trusted advisor to leaders and managers, partnering closely with them to address people priorities, strengthen team effectiveness, and support organizational goals. Working closely with the Head of HR, you will provide strategic and hands‑on HR support, with primary responsibility for partnering with the Museum’s on‑site teams.
EssentialFunctions
- Serve as a trusted HR advisor and primary HR partner to assigned business units, developing a strong understanding of their operations, priorities, workforce needs, and challenges.
- Partner with leaders and managers to translate business needs into effective people strategies and solutions that strengthen individual, team, and organizational performance.
- Independently manage complex and sensitive employee relations matters, including conducting thorough, timely, and impartial workplace investigations from intake through resolution.
- Advise and coach managers on employee relations matters, including performance management, conduct, conflict resolution, corrective action, and the consistent application of organizational policies and practices.
- Partner with managers to proactively address performance and workplace concerns and provide guidance and tools to strengthen manager effectiveness and employee accountability.
- Manage the workplace accommodation process, including facilitating the interactive process, coordinating required documentation, evaluating requests, and making recommendations in accordance with applicable requirements.
- Identify and analyze employee relations trends, recurring workplace issues, and areas of organizational risk, and recommend proactive solutions, training, or other interventions.
- Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation to leaders and employees and partner with the Head of HR to ensure policies and practices remain current, consistent, and fit for purpose.
- Maintain knowledge of relevant employment laws and regulatory requirements and support consistent and compliant HR practices.
- Build strong, credible relationships with employees and leaders and serve as an accessible and trusted resource for workplace concerns and HR guidance.
- Identify training and development needs within assigned business units and partner with HR colleagues and business leaders to develop appropriate solutions.
- Partner with the Head of HR and broader HR team on business-critical initiatives, organizational priorities, and special projects.
- Participate in the Annual 5K Fundraiser and 9/11 Commemoration, as assigned.
- Assist with other special projects and events in support of 9/11 Memorial & Museum, as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 5–7 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in an HR Business Partner, Employee Relations, or similar role with significant responsibility for advising leaders and managing complex employee matters.
- Demonstrated experience independently conducting and documenting workplace investigations, including interviewing employees, analyzing information and recommending appropriate actions.
- Strong knowledge of employee relations practices, performance management, workplace accommodations, and applicable employment laws and regulations.
