Position Summary
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Core Applications, the Application Analyst ensures the seamless operation and integration of various systems and technologies within the organization. This position is responsible for resolving complex issues escalated from the service desk within SLA guidelines, delivering detailed systems and application solutions. Additionally, this position advises on business requirements, designs processes, and supports the integration of layered products like databases and web services.
This position may require occasional evening, weekend, and holiday hours.
- Resolves complex issues requiring detailed systems and application knowledge that have been escalated from the service desk following SLA guidelines.
- Advises team activity in identifying business requirements, functional designs, process designs, prototyping, testing, training, and defining support procedures, service levels, and restoration objectives in the event of a loss of service.
- Supports the integration of layered products, including but not limited to Databases, Web Services, Applications Services, and Data Transformation tools.
- Assures adherence to proper processes and procedures as defined in the latest documentation pertaining to infrastructure, design, configuration, process, and procedures.
- Incorporates best practices into all recommendations for pre-deployment, implementation, and day forward processes.

- Challenges and enhances analytical approaches or tools.
- Applies fact-based analysis to achieve business strategy.
- Reviews and validates analysis, and develops recommendations for functional areas or projects.
- Facilitates constructive communication across the team.
- Communicates engagement status, progress, and impact to management.
- Assesses the implications of changes in scope.
- Identifies changes in the scope of work and communicates appropriately.
- Reviews deliverables to ensure that they meet expectations and are consistent with IT standards.
- Manages day to day relationships with vendors and consultants.
- Provides recommendations to clients and staff on technical designs and analyses.
Required Qualifications:
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 4 years of experience in application engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge and Skills
Experience with collaboration technologies and cloud services, including Microsoft O365, Azure AD, Service Now, Google Work spaces, and Proofpoint.
Experience in integrating layered products, such as databases, web services, application services, and data transformation tools.
Demonstrated ability to resolve complex technical issues escalated from the service desk, adhering to Service Level Agreement ( SLA ) guidelines.
Skilled in documenting and ensuring adherence to processes and procedures related to infrastructure design and configuration.
Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to operate in an advisory role and engage with team members and stakeholders.
Proficiency in scripting or programming languages (e.g., Power Shell, Python, Bash) for system automation, configuration management, and task execution.
Proven expertise in systems analysis, including advising on business requirements, functional designs, process designs, prototyping, testing, training, and defining support procedures.
Competency in one or more of the following areas of focus:
System Engineer for Microsoft Windows or Linux systems, supports collaboration technologies, e.g., O365, email, One Drive, Teams, SharePoint, supports Azure AD, Zoom, Email security, e.g., Proofpoint, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated understanding of the technical, business, and cultural environment of higher education.
Familiarity with teaching environment, curriculum development, and processes.
