Director of Technology & Systems

Strive Charter School is a new charter school building a technology‑forward model for how schools operate. We combine best‑in‑class commercial software with custom‑built systems and AI‑driven tools to automate and improve functions that are often handled manually in traditional schools, including assessment workflows, progress monitoring, attendance reporting, and personalized learning support.

Because we are a small, mission‑driven nonprofit, this role offers an unusual level of ownership and responsibility. We are open to candidates early in their careers who demonstrate strong technical ability, initiative, and judgment, and who see this as an opportunity to build real systems from the ground up rather than slot into a narrow role.

You will serve as the school’s primary technology lead, working directly with the founder and leadership team. You will design, build, and integrate systems yourself where appropriate, and manage outside vendors and developers when needed. This role combines hands‑on building with product thinking and vendor oversight.

The position also includes basic IT and operational responsibilities, such as ensuring that networks and core systems are reliable and secure. Wherever possible, the expectation is that you will design systems that automate or eliminate routine technical and administrative work, rather than performing it manually.

This role requires a strong technical foundation. Candidates should have either (a) a degree in computer science, engineering, or a closely related field from a highly regarded college or university, or (b) clear, demonstrated experience building and shipping software (e.g., personal projects, startups, open‑source contributions, or prior roles). We are less concerned with formal titles or years of experience than with evidence that you can build working systems, learn new technologies quickly, and take ownership of real technical problems.
