Director, P&C Data Analytics – American National
Job DescriptionPurpose of the Job:
The role will focus on building and managing a team responsible for the quality, development, management, and compliance of all data within P&C Operations (Underwriting, Product, Actuarial, Claims, ML Agencies, Marketing, SMG, Competitive Intelligence). The Director will work with leadership to establish data strategy and data policies to ensure Data Analysts within P&C Operations provide accurate and high-quality data in a timely manner.
This director fosters an innovative environment that encourages, empowers, and develops analysts to think of the big picture and how to achieve it.
- Provides clarity of the vision, strategy, growth, and development for Data Analytics across all P&C Operations areas.
- Creates documentation that enables stakeholder comprehension of the data governance strategy.
- Leads a team to build and implement dashboards (e.g., Power
BI), reports, and spreadsheets utilized throughout P&C Operations. - Leads discussions with stakeholders to translate data needs and goals by understanding data structures, defining data, gathering requirements, analyzing processes, and evaluating data accuracy.
- Monitors projects to translate findings into visuals and written summaries for non‑technical audiences, ensuring requirements and deadlines are met.
- Validates queries, reports, and dashboards developed by the Data Analytics teams for accuracy and quality.
- Monitors data production to ensure security and compliance with corporate privacy and security procedures.
- Implements and oversees training on skills, techniques, and data sources for less experienced analysts.
- Reviews policies, procedures, and processes created or updated by the Data Analytics teams.
- Performs quality assurance checks to validate completeness and accuracy for release.
- Creates a culture of accountability among management to ensure direct reports meet deadlines and specifications.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 10 to 12 years of experience.
- Two to five years of supervisory/management experience.
- Equivalent work experience in a business or technical environment may substitute for a bachelor’s degree.
- Ability to initiate, plan, implement, or evaluate programs.
- Strong communication and people skills.
- Expert level Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Access).
- Expertise in data visualization tools (Power
BI, Tableau) using graphs, charts, and map features.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others to exchange information.
- Performs routine work within established policies and procedures with detailed instructions on new projects.
- Position can be performed remotely.
- No adverse working or environmental conditions expected.
- Position is a People Leader.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Data Analytics, or related field.
- Intermediate Python or Visual Studio .NET skills for actuarial and statistical roles.
- Experience creating trend analysis dashboards.

Manager, P&C Data Analytics
Level II:
Director, P&C Data Analytics
$105,000 to $190,000
