Cloud Architect​/Engineer; AWS, GCP, Hybrid HPC Datacenter

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Hybrid Cloud Architect/Engineer to design, build, and operate scalable, secure, and high-performance hybrid cloud environments spanning AWS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and on-premises HPC datacenters. This role is critical in enabling compute-intensive workloads such as HPC, AI/ML, data analytics, and scientific computing while ensuring seamless integration, performance optimization, and cost efficiency across cloud and datacenter environments.

The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on engineering experience, architectural leadership, and deep understanding of high-throughput, low-latency systems across hybrid infrastructures.

• Design and implement hybrid and multi-cloud architectures integrating AWS, GCP, and on-prem HPC datacenters
• Lead cloud adoption and workload migration strategies for HPC and compute-intensive applications
• Architect solutions for bursting HPC workloads to cloud while maintaining performance and cost controls
• Define reference architectures, best practices, and operational standards

• Build and manage cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Cloud Formation, Deployment Manager)
• Design and optimize services including:
  • AWS: EC2, EKS, S3, FSx, IAM, VPC, Direct Connect
  • GCP:
    Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Storage, IAM, VPC, Cloud Interconnect
• Implement cloud-native security, identity, and governance models
• Optimize cloud costs using capacity planning, reserved instances, and usage analytics

• Architect and support on-prem HPC environments, including compute, storage, and high-speed networking
• Work with HPC schedulers (Slurm, PBS, LSF, or similar) and integrate them with cloud resources
• Design high-performance storage solutions (Lustre, GPFS, NFS, object storage)
• Support datacenter operations including racking, power, cooling, and lifecycle planning
• Implement low-latency networking (Infini Band, high-speed Ethernet) and hybrid connectivity

• Design secure hybrid connectivity using VPNs, AWS Direct Connect, and GCP Cloud Interconnect
• Implement segmentation, firewalling, and routing across cloud and datacenter environments
• Ensure high availability, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery

• Build CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and platform services
• Automate provisioning, monitoring, and scaling of hybrid workloads
• Implement observability using Cloud Watch, Cloud Monitoring, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar tools
• Support SRE practices including reliability, performance tuning, and incident response

• 7+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, systems engineering, or platform engineering
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS and GCP in production environments
• Proven experience designing and operating hybrid cloud + on-prem HPC datacenters
• Deep understanding of HPC workloads, batch scheduling, and performance optimization
• Expertise in Linux systems administration
• Strong experience with Terraform or similar IaC tools
• Solid networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls, VPNs)

• Experience with AI/ML, scientific computing, or large-scale data analytics
• Knowledge of container platforms (Kubernetes, EKS, GKE) for HPC or batch workloads
• Experience with parallel file systems and high-throughput storage
• Familiarity with cost modeling and performance benchmarking for hybrid HPC workloads
• Cloud certifications (AWS Solutions Architect, GCP Professional Cloud Architect)
• Experience in regulated or security-sensitive environments
