Position: Quality Engineer [Contractor]
Location: New York

Daily Harvest is seeking a Quality Engineer (Contractor) to help ensure the quality and reliability of our Shopify-based e-commerce experiences. You will partner closely with product, design, engineering, and analytics teams to test theme customizations, subscription flows, app integrations, and backend services. You will help maintain the excellence that our customers expect from Daily Harvest’s online experience. This role is ideal for someone with hands‑on QA experience in DTC e‑commerce environments (especially Shopify) who thrives in fast‑paced, high‑growth settings.

Job Responsibilities
  • Execute comprehensive manual and automated testing for Shopify Liquid themes, sections, and templates, as well as Shopify custom apps across web and mobile devices.
  • Validate core e‑commerce flows, including checkout, subscriptions, customer accounts, promotions, and recurring orders.
  • Test and verify integrations with backend services, APIs, payment providers (e.g., Stripe, Shopify Payments), and fulfillment systems.
  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity for business analytics, tracking, and reporting tools (e.g., Segment, Looker).
  • Identify, log, track, and communicate defects clearly in a ticketing system (e.g., Jira), and collaborate with engineers until resolution.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of hands‑on QA experience in e‑commerce at a consumer‑facing DTC brand or marketplace with rapid release cadences running Shopify Plus.
  • Strong understanding of Shopify theme structures (Liquid, templates, sections) and checkout behaviors.
  • Experience testing complex purchase and subscription flows (e.g., recurring orders, A/B offers, upsells).
  • Familiarity with API/Integration testing and validating event/data pipelines.
  • Excellent analytical mindset with attention to detail and proactive problem identification.
  • Comfortable writing clear defect reports, test plans, and acceptance criteria.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize testing efforts in a fast‑moving environment.
Nice‑to‑Have:
  • Experience with test automation frameworks (e.g., Playwright or Selenium).
