Expectations:Leading Strategic Network Security Initiatives
As the Manager of Network Security, you’ll be at the forefront of protecting critical network infrastructure, leading strategic initiatives, and fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration within your team and across the enterprise.
- Lead Platform Engineering Initiatives: You will lead platform engineering initiatives specifically focused on Next Gen Firewalls (Next-Generation Firewalls), IPS (Intrusion Prevention Systems), and Network Security Analytics. This involves guiding the team through the full lifecycle of these technologies, from strategic planning and architectural design to implementation, optimization, and continuous improvement. Your leadership will ensure these critical security controls are robust and effective.
- Drive Automation and Process Improvements: You will actively drive automation and process improvements within the network security domain, particularly in a complex multi-vendor environment. This includes identifying repetitive manual tasks, designing and implementing automation scripts or tools, and streamlining operational workflows to enhance efficiency, reduce human error, and accelerate security deployments and responses. Your focus on continuous improvement will optimize team performance.
- Act as a Trusted Advisor to Internal Stakeholders: You will serve as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders and senior leadership. This requires translating complex technical security concepts and risks into clear, understandable business implications. Your expertise will guide strategic decisions, secure buy-in for security initiatives, and ensure that network security aligns with overarching organizational goals and risk appetite.
- Champion Client Needs and Ensure Alignment: You will actively champion client needs by understanding their operational requirements and ensuring that network security solutions are designed to support their business objectives without unnecessary friction. You’ll ensure strict alignment with enterprise goals, balancing security best practices with business enablement to deliver true customer value.
- Contribute to Compliance and Risk Management Efforts: You will play a crucial role in contributing to compliance and risk management efforts related to network security. This involves ensuring that network security controls adhere to internal policies and external regulatory standards, assisting with audits, and providing input into risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential security vulnerabilities across the network infrastructure.
Essential Qualifications for Network Security Leadership
To excel as a Manager of Network Security, you’ll need extensive experience in IT, deep technical expertise in networking and security, proven management experience, and a proactive, collaborative mindset.
- Extensive IT and Management Experience: You possess 10+ years of verifiable experience in IT, specifically within high-reliability, global environments. Within this, you must have at least 5+ years of dedicated management experience, demonstrating your ability to lead, mentor, and inspire technical teams. This combined experience is crucial for overseeing complex network security operations in a large-scale setting.
- Deep Expertise in Networking and Security Protocols: You have deep expertise in core networking and security protocols. This includes:
