Major League Baseball is hiring a Senior Dev Ops Engineer for our Web Platform Architecture team. This team is responsible for building, scaling, and maintaining the cloud infrastructure that powers our entire suite of web applications that power  The team's responsibilities cover CI/CD, infrastructure as code, monitoring, and ensuring the reliability and security of all our services that support millions of users.

You will play a pivotal role in shaping the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of our digital platforms. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional, results-oriented teams to design, implement, and optimize the infrastructure and automation that enhance security, performance, and developer experience across our websites and services.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, and management of CI/CD pipelines, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and business requirements
  • Architect, maintain, and optimize our cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system performance, reliability, observability, and security posture
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to software engineering teams, fostering a culture of Dev Ops, innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning
  • Automate manual processes to improve engineering team velocity and system reliability
Collaboration

  • Participate in an agile environment
  • Participate in the full software development life cycle (requirements gathering, designing, building, testing, and maintenance)
  • Proactively seek constructive criticism of your own work and offer constructive feedback to others in a way that raises people up and builds relationships
  • Participate in and lead triage efforts during production incidents, including managing on-call rotations and post-mortems
Technology Leadership

  • Lead and take ownership of critical infrastructure features and your own initiatives
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies, trends, and industry standards related to cloud infrastructure, automation, and security
  • Mentor and coach engineers in your team and across the organization to build a strong engineering-focused culture
  • Influence the way that baseball is consumed by millions of users worldwide


Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of industry experience with a focus on Dev Ops, Infrastructure Engineering, and Application development
  • Expertise in designing and implementing CI/CD solutions (e.g., Github Actions, Tekton)
  • Deep experience with cloud-native tooling such as Kubernetes, Docker, and Terraform
  • Experience with at least one major Cloud platform (Google Cloud, AWS, or similar)
  • Experience with CDNs such as Cloudflare and Fastly
  • Deep experience with proxy technologies such as HAProxy or Nginx
  • Experience using Edge compute or Cloud functions using JavaScript or Type Script (Cloudflare workers, Fastly Compute@Edge)
  • Strong background in monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog)


Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certification in a major cloud platform (e.g., AWS Certified Dev Ops Engineer, Google Professional Cloud Dev Ops Engineer)
  • Experience with Google Cloud
  • Experience with HAProxy
  • Experience with Fastly
  • Experience with Node.js as a full stack JavaScript framework for application development
Nice to Have

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience
  • Experience contributing to open source projects
  • A baseball fan or sports enthusiast
Salary Range: $150,000 - $185,000 (Base Salary) + Bonus
