Senior Data Scientist

Responsibilities

• Design, enhance, and maintain advanced optimization and forecasting models supporting a large-scale, mission-critical platform.
• Enable new use cases, constraints, and programs within a production-grade optimization engine.
• Monitor, analyse, and improve model accuracy through detailed KPI and performance reporting.
• Identify root causes of optimisation inaccuracies and propose, test, and implement data-driven improvements.
• Partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Technical Product teams to translate business requirements into robust analytical solutions.
• Benchmark model performance across varying scenarios, datasets, and operational conditions.
• Develop and integrate testing frameworks to ensure reliability and scalability of optimisation logic.
• Identify anomalies proactively before they impact end users.
• Support business cases for technical prioritisation by quantifying the incremental value of model and code changes.
• Contribute to the long-term evolution of a data science capability, with scope to help shape and grow the practice over time.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Operations Research, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in data science, applied mathematics, or optimization-focused roles.
• Hands-on experience with mixed-integer linear or non-linear optimization (industry or advanced academic).
• Strong Python experience, including optimization and modelling frameworks.
• Solid understanding of time-series analysis and forecasting techniques.
• Experience working closely with software engineers in production environments.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Comfortable operating in fast-moving, ambiguous problem spaces.
