Job SummaryNew York Life is looking for a technical Enterprise Architect which is a strategic role responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing enterprise-wide technology solutions with a focus on the insurance industry. This multidomain-experienced role, with deep technology skills, leverages expertise in LeanIX (or similar EA tooling) for enterprise architecture management and technical architecture modeling across AWS, enterprise integration, cloud services planning to align IT strategies with business objectives, ensuring scalability, security, and operational efficiency.
The architect will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to drive digital transformation, optimize technology landscapes, and support innovation in insurance processes.

Primary Responsibilities- Enterprise Architecture Design:
Develop and maintain comprehensive enterprise architecture frameworks using LeanIX to map business processes, applications, and technology infrastructure specific to the insurance sector. - Cloud Strategy and Implementation:
Lead the design, deployment, and optimization of cloud-based solutions across NYL hybrid model (Colo and AWS), ensuring alignment with insurance industry requirements such as compliance, data security, and scalability. - Technology Roadmap Development:
Create and maintain strategic IT roadmaps that support business goals, incorporating LeanIX for application portfolio management, assessing emerging technology and AWS cloud services for infrastructure modernization. - Stakeholder
Collaboration:
Partner with business leaders, product owners, and IT teams to translate insurance business needs into technical solutions, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, or insurance-specific regulations). - Solution Optimization:
Assess and optimize the existing technology stack, identifying opportunities to leverage AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, other) and cloud‑native architectures to enhance performance and reduce costs by identifying opportunities for simplification, consolidation, and decommissioning. - Governance and Compliance:
Establish governance frameworks for architecture standards management, ensuring compliance with insurance industry regulations and best practices for data privacy and security. Support NYL Domain Architecture community to analyze our landscape and develop and shepherd standards proposals through the governance process. - Innovation and Transformation:
Drive digital transformation initiatives by integrating emerging technologies (e.g., AI, machine learning, other) into the insurance ecosystem, leveraging AWS tools and services. - LeanIX Expertise:
Utilize LeanIX to document, analyze, and optimize the enterprise architecture, providing visibility into business/technology roadmaps, application dependencies, technology life cycles, and IT costs. - Risk Management:
Identify and mitigate risks related to implementation of technology, ensuring robust disaster recovery and business continuity plans tailored to insurance operations. - Mentorship and Leadership:
Guide and mentor junior architects and support NYL Lead and Domain architecture community and technical teams, ensuring we are improving consistency in delivery and helping them execute their roles effectively in EA Management processes.
