A high-profile financial organisation based in the heart of New York is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to lead the design and deployment of advanced ML models that drive predictive insights and operational optimization across the organization. This is a hands-on role blending quantitative research, data science, and engineering, ideal for an entrepreneurial, outcome-driven professional who thrives on delivering practical ML solutions.
The initial focus will be on large-scale industrial and operational data
, including predictive modeling, anomaly detection, optimization, and causal inference. The role will evolve to cover diverse business areas, building reusable ML methods that deliver measurable operational and commercial impact.
- Good working experience in Data Science / ML with a track record of building models from complex, large-scale datasets.
- Strong grounding in applied ML, statistics, or related quantitative fields;
PhD or post-doc experience is a strong plus. - Hands-on experience with modern data and ML infrastructure (Python, PyTorch/Tensor Flow, Spark, Databricks, Snowflake, Sage Maker, or similar).
- Experience building distributed systems, time-series modeling, anomaly detection, and production-grade ML pipelines.
- Strong software engineering skills and ability to collaborate with engineering teams.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, able to separate signal from noise across heterogeneous datasets.
- Results-driven, pragmatic, and motivated by solving real-world optimization problems with measurable outcomes.
- Exceptional communication skills to translate technical findings into actionable business insights.
- Advanced degree (PhD or MSc) in a quantitative ML-focused discipline (Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering,) strongly preferred.
- Partner with business, product, and technology teams to define, prioritize, and deliver ML-driven analytics and optimization use cases.
- Frame ambiguous problems into well-scoped, testable ML use cases with clear value.
- Develop scalable ML solutions for operational optimization, predictive maintenance, and anomaly detection.
- Analyze large-scale, heterogeneous, and noisy datasets to deliver actionable insights.
- Design and implement reproducible, generalizable ML workflows for production environments.
- Translate technical outputs into dashboards, reports, and decision-ready insights for leadership
The role will be 5 days a week onsite.
