AI Engineer - Full-Stack

Overview

Traversal is the AI Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) for the enterprise, trusted to troubleshoot, remediate, and prevent complex production incidents. We aim to free engineers from firefighting and enable high-impact work. Our team brings AI research rigor to build the premier AI agent lab for the enterprise, including researchers from top universities and engineers from leading companies.

As a Full-Stack AI Engineer at Traversal, you’ll design and build core features powered by our AI site reliability engineer. From UI to backend and infrastructure, you’ll develop product components to enable real-time incident detection, root cause analysis, and automated remediation in top production environments. The role requires the ability to work across the full product pipeline with strong product sense and comfort around AI and data processing infrastructure.

  Experience:
  
  Innovate and drive UX/UI design, iterating based on user feedback to improve usability.
• API Development: Design and implement high-performance APIs for frontend-backend communication.
• Data Management: Ensure efficient data storage, retrieval, and processing using technologies like Postgre
  
  SQL, Redis, or others.
• AI Integration: Collaborate with AI engineers/researchers to integrate AI-driven insights into backend systems and own API authentication/authorization frameworks.
• Data Visualization: Develop intuitive interfaces for time-series and topological data visualization.

• 3+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on full-stack systems.
• Proven ability to lead in fast-paced startup environments with limited resources and shifting priorities.
• Strong experience with Python and web frameworks such as FastAPI.
• Hands-on experience with React, Type Script, Next.js, and Tailwind
  
  CSS to build fast, responsive frontends. React experience is essential; we support learning other tools.
• Experience deploying applications on AWS, with ECS or Kubernetes, Postgre
  
  SQL for data storage, and S3 for large-scale object storage.

• Familiarity with Python-based ecosystems.
• Experience with Agentic AI systems or observability domain.
• Background in large-scale, data-driven applications.
• Familiarity with AI or LLM-powered products.

We offer competitive compensation, startup equity, health insurance, and additional benefits. The U.S. base salary range for this full-time, in-person role in New York is $150,000–$300,000, plus equity and benefits. Salary ranges depend on location, level, and role; individual compensation is determined by experience, skills, and job-related knowledge.
