Duration: 6+ month contract (possibility of being converted to full time)
Location: 5 out of 10 business days in office in New York
Job SummaryIn this role, you will be responsible for maintaining the company’s Oracle database environments, ensuring high resiliency, uptime, HA/DR, performance, capacity planning, monitoring, and documentation. You will bring a strong service-oriented mindset, a high sense of ownership, and a proactive approach to managing and resolving issues in alignment with SLAs. This includes maintaining clear communication with stakeholders, executing changes in production environments, and escalating risks or issues that cannot be resolved within established time frames.
Key Responsibilities- Administer the firm’s Oracle database environments, including supporting, configuring, maintaining, upgrading, and patching database systems.
- Monitor system health, availability, and performance, and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
- Perform database performance tuning and optimization.
- Manage database backup, restore, and recovery processes.
- Ensure data integrity, availability, and security.
- Administer Oracle Grid Infrastructure and manage database storage, including ASM.
- Automate routine DBA tasks to improve efficiency and reliability.
- Support Oracle HA/DR solutions, including RAC and Data Guard.
- Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation to support the production database environment.
- Support software development initiatives, including production releases and deployments.
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with technical and business stakeholders.
- Learn and understand relevant business processes, data flows, system criticality, and dependencies.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve systems through more efficient and effective technologies and practices.
- 7+ years of experience as an Oracle Database Administrator supporting Oracle RDBMS versions (11g through 19c+).
- Strong working knowledge of Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) and operating systems such as AIX, Linux, and Windows.
- Extensive experience across the full project lifecycle.
- Advanced experience developing database scripts using SQL, PL/SQL, and Unix shell scripting.
- Solid understanding of Oracle database design, development, and documentation standards.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with other DBMS platforms such as Postgre
SQL or Sybase is a plus
