Summary for Assistant General Counsel, Operational Risk (Technology Focus):
A top-tier, globally integrated law firm is seeking an AGC (Operational Risk) to join its Office of the General Counsel. This is a senior, global leadership role with significant visibility, operating at the intersection of technology, AI, risk management, and enterprise governance. This position is ideal for a senior lawyer with deep technology law experience, ideally gained in-house at a tech company or through a practice heavily focused on technology, AI, and complex commercial contracting.
Key Responsibilities for Assistant General Counsel, Operational Risk (Technology Focus):- Lead and manage a global team of attorneys advising on operational risk and legal matters related to technology, AI, and vendor contracts.
- Oversee the drafting, negotiation, and management of complex technology and commercial agreements, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards.
- Serve as a senior legal advisor on large-scale technology and AI initiatives, including risk assessment, governance, and regulatory compliance.
- Design, enhance, and implement enterprise risk management frameworks, embedding strong governance across functions and jurisdictions.
- Translate complex and evolving legal and regulatory requirements into clear, actionable guidance for senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Partner across legal, compliance, IT, and business functions to support seamless service delivery and continuous operational improvement.
- JD with 10–12 years of relevant legal experience at top-tier law firms and/or in-house roles.
- Direct in-house experience at a technology company or a legal background substantially focused on technology law, AI, data, and digital platforms.
- Proven ability to lead legal teams and global initiatives, with strong people management across time zones and cultures.
- Deep experience advising on operational risk, regulatory compliance, and vendor management in complex organizations.
- Extensive experience drafting and negotiating technology-driven and high-value commercial contracts.
- Strong judgment, executive presence, and comfort operating in fast-paced, high-stakes environments.
