Position OverviewOur Fortune 500 customer is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Administrator to support and maintain mission‑critical IT infrastructure in a highly regulated environment. This role requires deep hands‑on expertise across Windows systems, Active Directory, virtualization, storage, networking, security, and automation, combined with a strong customer‑service mindset and a commitment to safety and operational excellence.
The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, dependable, and capable of supporting complex infrastructure systems both during normal business hours and through off‑hours, on‑call support. This is a fully onsite role and requires flexibility to respond to emergencies and scheduled maintenance activities.
Key Responsibilities Infrastructure & Systems Administration- Administer and support Windows Server and Desktop environments, including user administration, file systems, software, and core services.
- Manage Active Directory, including domain services, Group Policy design, backup, and recovery.
- Support servers, storage systems, and RAID configurations, ensuring availability and performance.
- Perform patching and firmware management, including darksite patching of Nutanix Hypervisor and related components.
- Maintain and support virtualized environments and enterprise computing platforms.
- Monitor system health and performance, analyze metrics, identify bottlenecks, and recommend optimization actions.
- Support disaster recovery planning, including backup, restore, and recovery testing for systems, applications, and data.
- Troubleshoot and support network fundamentals (DHCP, DNS, routing, firewall concepts).
- Apply security principles, including ACLs, encryption, and access control.
- Support physical and logical security platforms; experience with Prowatch or Genetec is a plus.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using Power Shell, Bash, ksh, or Perl to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Provide tier‑2 / tier‑3 end‑user support with a strong customer‑service focus.
- Produce clear and accurate technical documentation, including system designs, procedures, and operational guides.
- Participate in on‑call rotations, off‑hours support, and scheduled maintenance windows.
- Safely lift, transport, and install server and infrastructure equipment when required.
- Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Information Technology) or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of experience in Systems Administration or IT Infrastructure Support.
- Strong hands‑on experience with Windows Server/Desktop, Active Directory, and enterprise infrastructure.
- Experience supporting Nutanix Hypervisor, including darksite patching.
- Experience with scripting and automation (Power Shell, Bash, ksh, or Perl).
- Strong understanding of networking and security fundamentals.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work fully onsite, travel to company locations, and support off‑hours work.
- Ability to lift and transport server equipment.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Experience with security platforms such as Prowatch or Genetec.
- Experience working in regulated or critical infrastructure environments.
- Familiarity with performance monitoring and optimization tools.
