Position OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled Information Architect to support a major Intranet Transformation initiative. This role focuses on evaluating the current intranet ecosystem, understanding colleague needs, and developing an intuitive, modern, scalable information architecture.
The ideal candidate will combine UX sensibility, strong communication skills, and experience organizing large-scale content environments. This position plays a key role in modernizing an 11‑year‑old intranet with 400+ sites, improving usability, findability, and governance, and enabling future AI‑driven enhancements.
Key Responsibilities- Partner with stakeholders to gather business and colleague experience requirements.
- Assess the current intranet structure and define an improved information architecture.
- Develop navigation systems, taxonomy, metadata schemas, and content structures.
- Produce site maps, navigation models, and wireframes to guide intranet design and development.
- Organize content logically to maximize clarity, usability, findability, and scalability.
- Collaborate closely with UX designers, content owners, and technology teams.
- Conduct usability testing and apply findings to refine IA recommendations.
- Analyze user behavior and content performance to inform IA decisions.
- Create persona types and support colleague research initiatives.
- Document IA standards, guidelines, and decision logic for long‑term governance.
- Ensure alignment with enterprise standards, compliance requirements, and accessibility guidelines.
- Support exploration of AI tools for automated tagging, recommendations, and content optimization.
- Demonstrated experience as an Information Architect, ideally within intranet or enterprise content environments.
- Strong foundation in IA principles, user‑centered design, content strategy, and UX best practices.
- Hands‑on experience building taxonomies, metadata models, navigation frameworks, and wireframes.
- Familiarity with SharePoint Online, Microsoft 365, or comparable content management platforms.
- Background in usability testing and analyzing complex information structures.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to present complex concepts clearly and persuasively.
- Ability to work cross‑functionally with global teams in agile environments.
- Knowledge of accessibility and inclusive design standards.
- Degree in Information Science, Library Science, Human‑Computer Interaction, or related field is preferred.
- Strong communicator able to work with diverse business groups
- Excellent documentation and presentation abilities (25+ audience comfort)
- UX‑oriented mindset
- Experience or education in Library or Information Science (preferred)
- Strong analytical and structured thinking skills
