Overview
The Product Manager, Fan Data Platform will lead the strategy, roadmap, and execution of a centralized fan data platform that powers personalized fan experiences, marketing activation, analytics, and revenue growth for Major League Soccer. This role is responsible for building scalable, privacy-by-design consumer data capabilities across digital, ticketing, merchandising, sales, marketing, and partner ecosystems. The ideal candidate combines deep expertise in consumer-focused data platforms, identity resolution, and data governance with strong product leadership and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
This individual will partner closely with Digital Platforms, Marketing, Sales, Engineering, Analytics, CRM, Ticketing, and Commercial teams to unlock actionable fan insights and drive measurable business impact.
- Define and own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for the fan data platform, aligned with league and club business objectives.
- Lead development and optimization of a unified fan data ecosystem, including data ingestion, identity resolution, segmentation, activation, and measurement capabilities.
- Translate business requirements from Marketing, Partnerships, Ticketing, Digital, and Analytics teams into scalable technical solutions.
- Prioritize features and enhancements based on business value, technical feasibility, and long‑term platform scalability.
- Partner with Engineering and Data teams to deliver high‑quality, secure, and performant data products using agile methodologies.
- Ensure data governance, privacy compliance (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), and consent management are embedded into platform design and operations.
- Drive adoption of the platform by internal stakeholders through enablement, documentation, and change management initiatives.
- Establish KPIs and success metrics to measure platform performance, fan growth, engagement, monetization, and operational efficiency.
- Evaluate and manage third‑party vendors (e.g., CDPs, identity providers, martech/adtech platforms, data clean rooms).
- Stay current on emerging trends in fan engagement, sports media, consumer data technology, and AI‑driven personalization. Additional responsibilities as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, Marketing, or a related field
- MBA or advanced technical degree preferred but not required
- 8–10 years of experience in product management, with a strong focus on consumer data platforms, customer data infrastructure, or marketing technology.
- Proven experience building or managing CDPs, data lakes, identity graphs, or large‑scale consumer data ecosystems
- Experience working in digital media, sports, entertainment, e‑commerce, or other consumer‑facing industries with high‑volume fan/customer data
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional teams across engineering, data science, analytics, and marketing
- Experience delivering data products in cloud environments (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Hands‑on experience with privacy regulations and data governance best practices
- Deep understanding of Customer Data Platforms (CDPs) and fan/customer 360 data models
- Expertise in identity resolution, first‑party data strategy, and audience segmentation
- Understanding of adtech/martech ecosystems and data clean room environments
- Strong product discovery, roadmap planning, and backlog management skills
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into business value narratives
- Strong knowledge of data architecture, APIs, ETL/ELT pipelines, and cloud data lake houses
- Experience integrating CRM, ticketing, mobile apps, OTT platforms, and web analytics data
- Familiarity with marketing automation and activation platforms (e.g., Salesforce, Braze, Adobe, Hub Spot)
- Proficiency with agile methodologies and product management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence)
- Data‑driven decision‑making and KPI development expertise
- Solid understanding of privacy frameworks (GDPR, CCPA) and consent management systems
- Experience with experimentation, personalization, and AI/ML‑driven fan engagement strategies
