Skills & Qualifications
  • Need to have installed and configured Cisco 9800 series WLAN controllers from scratch and do troubleshooting from initial configurations through production in enterprise environment (they are migrating from 8540 WLAN controllers to the 9800 series).
  • Wireless site survey/testing/design using Ekahau.
  • Experience in coordinating the installation and design/troubleshooting of Cisco wireless access points (WAPs) – this role assists in the design of the wireless environment and troubleshooting of issues; a third‑party vendor does the actual installations of the WAPs, so they would coordinate that activity (they are upgrading to Wi‑Fi 7 – 9176 series WAPs).
  • Cisco Catalyst Center or similar tool for monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • Basic Cisco router and switch troubleshooting – they partner with the Net Eng team for on‑call rotational support one week every six to seven weeks, so this is why they need basic route/switch experience – there is a stipend for their on‑call week.

Looking for candidates who are very detailed‑oriented, organized and don’t need a lot of hand‑holding. The candidate may be asked to help out providing back‑up support to the network team on an on‑call rotation, so any prior experience with basic troubleshooting of Cisco core routers and switches would be helpful.
