Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: Senior Experience Strategist Content-Driven UX & IA at Scale
Location: New York

Princeton. Columbia. USC. NYU. IEEE. Make-A-Wish. United Way. Large, content-rich institutional sites and marketing funnels where IA and experience strategy directly shape enrollment, fundraising, and how complex organizations get understood. That’s the work.

Digital Pulp is looking for a senior, hands‑on Experience Strategist to translate brand and content strategy into clear experience direction and concrete artifacts: journeys, sitemaps, page frameworks, wireframes, and clickable prototypes.

Our UX practice is content-driven and outcome-driven. We design from narrative, messaging hierarchy, content requirements, governance realities, and conversion intent outward. You’ll enjoy getting into complexity and detail — and you’ll bring that thinking into client conversations with senior stakeholders.

This is a producing role at senior level. You’ll spend most weeks creating UX/IA artifacts yourself — not delegating them. As trust builds, you’ll contribute more to discovery leadership and presentation work, but hands‑on delivery is the core.

The Details

Engagement: Starts as a project-based freelance engagement — a real audition for both sides. For the right fit, we have genuine intent to expand the role: ongoing retainer work, lead role on future engagements, and a path to a full‑time position. We’re looking for someone we want to keep.

Location: Fully remote.

Reports to: Chief Creative Officer, with day‑to‑day partnership with Producers and UX/Experience leads.

Responsibilities

Most weeks, you’ll be producing artifacts in these areas:

  • Discovery and synthesis. Discovery plans, workshop agendas, interview guides, and stakeholder synthesis.
  • Audience and journey work. Audience definitions, journeys, top tasks, and decision frameworks.
  • Information architecture. Sitemaps, navigation models, and taxonomy recommendations grounded in audience needs and content structure.
  • Page frameworks and templates. Tied to messaging hierarchy and user intent — specifying content intent, not just layout.
  • Wireframes, flows, and prototypes. Including component requirements tied to marketing and content intent.
  • Strategy readouts. That connect brand goals to experience decisions and delivery implications.
  • Funnel and measurement inputs. Conversion points, success signals, and hypothesis framing for key journeys.

You’ll facilitate workshops, present to senior stakeholders, partner closely with content strategy and design, and translate strategy into actionable scope and phased roadmaps alongside Producers and technical leads.

The Path Ahead First 3–6 months
  • You’ll independently own IA and wire framing on at least one active, complex engagement.
  • You’ll deliver an experience strategy readout or UX framework that becomes a backbone for design and content work.
  • You’ll co‑facilitate working sessions and present portions of findings to senior client stakeholders.
  • Producers and project teams will experience reduced churn: fewer late‑stage pivots, clearer decisions, better scope control.

9–18 months

  • You’ll lead defined discovery work streams—audiences, journeys, content model, IA direction, funnel pathways—and own the corresponding outputs.
  • You’ll raise the bar through templates, team collaboration and coaching, and quality standards that improve throughput and consistency.
  • Clients will view you as a trusted advisor on content-driven experience strategy and complex stakeholder alignment.
  • Thought leadership on higher‑ed experience strategy, enrollment journeys, content governance, and content-driven UX.
  • Pitch narrative support: translating our methods into clear, compelling language for proposals.
The Road Ahead

there’s a growth path toward broader experience leadership. People management is not expected on day one.

What You Bring
  • 7+ years in experience strategy, UX strategy, information architecture, content-driven UX, or a closely related discipline — with a track record on complex, enterprise-scale websites or platforms.
  • Strong hands‑on ability in wire framing, IA, and page framework definition, with clear rationale and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate brand and messaging hierarchy into page-level communication decisions and UX priorities.
  • Cl…
