IT Consultant, Database Administrator
The Consultant, Database will be a subject matter expert on the IT Database team responsible for planning and managing solutions leveraging databases in a hybrid cloud and on premises environment. This candidate will work closely with the Engineering, Operations, and Applications teams to ensure the operational reliability, standards development, security, assessment and implementation of new technologies using best practices. The position will lead strategic planning related to database solutions and technologies that help accomplish business objectives and opportunities.
Key Responsibilities- Develop strategic goals for production databases, design and implement policies and procedures to ensure data protection and integrity, plan for sufficient capacity and ensure that DBMS software is up-to-date.
- Support Cloud initiatives by staying abreast of relevant Cloud technologies and solutions and propose reliable, secure, and transformative solutions.
- Operational duties: resolving database access and performance issues; monitoring and optimizing database system details such as stored procedures and execution time; monitoring and optimizing data storage for database systems.
- Planning and coordinating data migrations between systems; developing, implementing and maintaining change control and testing processes; determining optimal use of licensing; performing database transaction and security audits.
- Establishing appropriate end‑user database access control levels; developing routines for end users to facilitate best practices database use; providing guidance to other IT members and business units that utilize database services.
- Identify and implement automation and improved efficiency.
- Academic:
Undergraduate degree in a computer or information systems science discipline preferred. - Years of
Experience:
Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience. - Technologies:
Proven working experience with designing, building, installing, configuring, and supporting Microsoft SQL Server including Analysis Services (SSAS), Reporting Services (SSRS) and Integration Services (SSIS). Determines database structural requirements by analyzing client operations, applications, and programming; reviewing objectives with clients; evaluating current systems. Proficiency in all MS Office applications and software (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and other technologies relevant to the role). - Skills/Traits:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, effective multitasking skills with ability to prioritize projects, self‑motivated with a strong customer service orientation.

The current salary range for this position is $101,500 to $130,000 plus opportunity for a discretionary performance bonus based on company profitability and employee performance.
