Job Description
Summary: Under the supervision of the Director of Infrastructure, the Cloud Architect & Engineer will assess, design, implement and provide hands‑on support for scalable, high‑performance Azure assets that meet the needs of our business using both private and public cloud technologies. They will plan and deliver legacy infrastructure transformation and migration in Azure/cloud technologies where beneficial to drive next‑generation business outcomes in a cost‑effective manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Design and develop a cloud roadmap and approved solutions aligned with business objectives and the technology roadmap.
- Define and oversee cloud architecture to ensure scalability, performance, security, and compliance.
- Continuously evaluate and optimize cloud services, configurations, and costs to maximize efficiency and ROI.
- Implement and oversee security best practices, access controls, and compliance measures within the cloud environment.
- Manage cloud resources using infrastructure‑as‑code (ARM templates, Terraform, Cloud Formation) and automation tools.
- Deploy and manage cloud resources using automation tools.
- Leverage Azure services (Virtual Machines, App Services, SQL, Functions, Insight/Monitor, etc.).
- Manage containerized applications using Azure Kubernetes Service or similar platforms.
- Configure Virtual Networks, Subnets, Security Groups, and NSGs for secure, efficient communication.
- Set up and manage Azure Monitor, Log Analytics.
- Develop disaster recovery and high availability strategies to ensure business continuity.
- Provide analysis and recommendations for large‑scale cross‑system changes.
- Create and maintain documentation of Azure architectures, configurations, and best practices.
- Mentor Azure engineers and other team members, fostering continuous learning.
- Perform tasks as required by management/supervisory staff.
- Provide support after hours and/or on weekends as required.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to gather requirements, provide guidance, and communicate decisions.
- At least eight years supporting a medium to large Azure enterprise within an infrastructure department.
- Quick learner with initiative to research new concepts and technologies.
- Proficiency in Azure networking (Virtual Networks, Express Route, VPN Gateway).
- Strong knowledge of Azure identity and access management (Azure AD, RBAC).
- Experience with Azure Dev Ops and CI/CD pipelines.
- Understanding of Azure security, encryption, and compliance standards.
- Azure certifications (Solutions Architect Expert, Security Engineer, etc.) are a plus.
- AWS knowledge (Light Sail, App Runner, Postgre
SQL, Lambda, Cloud Watch, etc.) is preferred. - Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem‑solving skills.
- Experience migrating legacy solutions to the cloud is a plus.
- Knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks, component integration, and modeling tools.
- Strong understanding of cloud services and capabilities.
- Team‑oriented, collaborative, multi‑stakeholder, multi‑location experience.
- Experience in proof‑of‑concept, prototyping, and building reference models.
- Proficient MS Office (Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Project).
- Strategic planning, risk management, and change management experience.
- Vendor management experience is preferred.
- Detail oriented with strong organization, motivation, influencing, analytical, communication, negotiation, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to plan and take initiative to accomplish objectives on time.

Education and/or
Experience:
B.A. in Business Management, Information Technology, Financial Management or related field; master’s preferred.
Language
Skills:
