Senior SQL Developer - NYC

We are seeking a Senior SQL Developer to support a large-scale data environment for a well-established organization operating within the media and digital licensing space. This is a contract opportunity focused on high‑impact database development, optimization, and integration work across enterprise systems. The role is ideal for someone with deep SQL expertise who thrives in complex data environments and enjoys solving challenging data engineering problems.

Senior SQL Developer (Contract)

Location:

Hybrid (3x per week in New York, NY)

• Design, develop, and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views across large‐scale relational databases
• Optimize query performance and manage indexing strategies to ensure efficiency and scalability across critical systems
• Support database engineering efforts including schema design, data integrity, and security best practices
• Build and maintain ETL pipelines using tools such as SSIS and support integrations across various enterprise platforms
• Develop and maintain APIs and support data integration efforts across internal and external systems
• Troubleshoot and resolve data‑related issues, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and reliability of data pipelines
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including engineering, product, and business stakeholders to support data‑driven initiatives
• Participate in Agile development processes, including sprint planning, standups, and ticket management

• 8-10+ years of experience working with relational databases, with strong expertise in MS SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL
• Advanced experience writing and optimizing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and database objects
• Hands‑on experience with ETL tools such as SSIS (experience building and deploying packages required)
• Strong understanding of database performance tuning, indexing, and transaction handling
• Experience with data integration tools such as Boomi, Talend, Informatica, or similar is a plus
• Familiarity with API development and data exchange between systems
• Experience working in enterprise environments with attention to security, entitlements, and data governance
• Exposure to data warehousing concepts (Snowflake or similar is a plus)
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills
• Experience working in Agile environments and using tools such as JIRA

• Hourly Rate: $80 - $85/hour
• Contract Duration: 6 months

• Hybrid role requiring 3 days per week onsite in New York, NY
