Location: New York

Location: New York City, New York, USA. This is an hybrid role with in-office days based at the NFL HQ in Midtown Manhattan, and as such, will require you to live within a reasonable commute

Contract: Full-time

Salary Range: $50,000-$60,000

Why This Role?:

We are looking for candidates to play a key part in integrating cutting-edge technologies including Virtual Measurement and enhancements to Instant Replay into the NFL and other American Football leagues. Having already successfully deployed SMART (Replay) systems across the NFL, we are expanding our slate of solutions to include tracking and wearables.

Based in the Art McNally Gameday Central (AMGC) at the NFL’s Headquarters in Midtown Manhattan, you'll play a crucial role in testing and deploying industry-first software
, liaising with Hawk-Eye colleagues in New York, Atlanta and across the USA, a range of external stakeholders
, contributing to the excitement of live sports events.

What Does A Typical Week Look Like?
  • Mid-Week (Tech & Support): Diagnose software issues across our tracking and replay solutions. Gather data on complex bugs for our Product teams, test incoming fixes, and train stakeholders on updates.

  • Game Day - 1 (Preparation): Partner with Live Operations to ensure total system readiness. This includes configuring the SMART Replay system, troubleshooting broadcast feeds, and verifying image quality for 32 Hawk-Eye cameras.

  • Game Day (Live Operations): Starting six hours before kickoff, join the New York live ops team to monitor systems, cross-support Atlanta, and resolve critical technical issues in real time.

To summarise, these would be the key components of the role:

  • Identifying and troubleshooting issues across all American Football solutions

  • Reporting unresolved or long scoping issues with data to Product teams

  • Testing updates and releases to ensure full functionality and fixes

  • Documenting fixes and training Live Operations and Implementation teams

  • Presenting updates to external shareholders

  • Ensuring live delivery by assisting in Game Day setup

Essential Skills, Attributes, and Requirements:
  • Technical grounding

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Proactive attitude and a willingness to learn

  • Excellent communication skills,
    time management and ability to work independently

  • Ability to work flexibly
    , including weekday evenings and weekends for games in line with game schedules

  • Live within a commutable distance of the NFL Headquarters in Midtown Manhattan

Desirable Attributes:

  • Experience, background or degree in a technical-related course such as computing, computer science, engineering, mathematics, science or technology

  • Interest in the sport industry and latest technological innovations in the field

  • Understanding of PC networks and data collection

  • Camera optimisation

Availability and Training:

July – August (Onboarding): Initial training and software testing at NFL HQ. Typically Monday to Friday, 9-5, with occasional early starts to align with our UK-based Product team.

August (NFL Preseason): Fast-paced, on-the-job learning. Shift transitions to include the evenings and weekends required for live match operations as new features roll out.

September – February (Regular Season): Full integration into live operations. You will independently drive software improvements through to the Super Bowl, with potential travel opportunities to our Atlanta office or the NFL International Series overseas.

Working Hours
:
Due to the nature of the sports industry, there is often work on weekends and midweek evenings, and we are expected to fulfil our roles beyond the final whistle.

High-Pressure Situations: Working in a live operational environment on a production that is broadcast to millions worldwide will bring high levels of pressure.
