Manager of Unified Communications

A highly regarded law firm is seeking a Manager of Unified Communications to lead the strategic development, implementation, and management of its enterprise communication systems. This leadership role will drive innovation across platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Microsoft 365 email, Microsoft One Drive, and Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM), ensuring seamless and secure communications across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Platform Management: Oversee administration, optimization, and integration of Microsoft Teams (chat, video conferencing, telephony), Microsoft 365 email, and One Drive. Maintain Cisco CUCM during its transition to Microsoft Teams Calling.Migration & Transformation: Lead the migration from on-premise telecom systems to modern cloud solutions, focusing on CUCM to Microsoft Teams Calling migrations.Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a growing team of engineers and administrators; initially 4 direct reports with the potential to expand to 8.Strategic Planning: Develop and execute a unified communications strategy aligned with business goals, continuously evaluating emerging technologies.Operational Excellence: Monitor system performance and security; ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with IT leadership and business units to address needs, resolve complex issues, and enhance user experience.User Support & Training: Oversee training initiatives to drive user adoption and proficiency in unified communications tools.Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.Minimum of 7 years of IT experience, with a focus on unified communications.Hands-on experience managing Microsoft Teams and Microsoft 365 environments.Proven expertise in cloud-based telephony and collaboration system migrations.Strong leadership skills and experience managing technical teams.Proficiency in Microsoft 365, network protocols, and telephony infrastructure.Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills.Preferred certifications: Microsoft 365 Certified:
Teams Administrator or Cisco CCNP Collaboration.Additional Expectations:
Candidates must be located within driving distance of Washington, DC, Boston, or New York City, and willing to work onsite as needed (role is primarily remote).A stable, long-term employment history is required (not temp/contract-heavy).Strong communication skills are essential.Experience working in cloud environments (Azure and/or AWS) is highly preferred.Must have an understanding of call routing over large enterprise networks and collaboration across platforms like SharePoint and Exchange/365.Important:
