About the RoleBased in New York with Hybrid (3 days per week)
As part of the Technology function at my client, you will help deliver key initiatives across a modern data and technology estate. You will work with tools such as Generative AI to improve processes, increase efficiency, and support better user experiences.
Role OverviewThe Data Protection and Data Risk Management Lead is responsible for strengthening the client’s data governance and data protection capabilities. This role focuses on delivering practical data protection solutions and managing data risk across the organisation.
You will lead a team and work closely with technology teams, business data owners, and risk and compliance stakeholders to deliver:
- PII and PHI data discovery and scanning
- Data protection solutions such as tokenisation and masking
- Data risk measurement, monitoring, and mitigation
You will work with tools including Atlan, Databricks, Anomalo, and other DSPM platforms, ensuring data is properly protected and risks are controlled.
Key Responsibilities- Define and deliver the data protection strategy
- Implement data protection processes, tools, and frameworks
- Work with stakeholders across business and technology to drive adoption
- Build and manage data risk measurement and reporting
- Act as Product Owner, managing backlog and Agile delivery
- At least 10 years in data protection
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Strong understanding of data protection, metadata, and data risk
- Experience translating business needs into governance frameworks
- Product ownership experience with a focus on delivery and adoption
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Working knowledge of SQL, data analysis, and data modelling
- Experience with data protection and governance tools
- Knowledge of data cataloguing, quality, and observability platforms
- Experience with PII and PHI identification and remediation
- Understanding of data risk measurement and reporting
- Experience working in Agile environments using Jira, Confluence, and Share Point
- Experience with DSPM initiatives
- Familiarity with AI driven data protection tools
- Experience with data modernisation, cloud, or data warehousing
