The Bronx District Attorney is committed to serving the 1.4 million members of the Bronx County community through the Office’s groundbreaking mission of “Pursuing Justice with Integrity” by fulfilling our duty to victims and providing fairness to defendants. Over the summer, the Bronx District Attorney’s Office will conduct an eight‑week internship program that will immerse students in the real‑world work of criminal justice.
College interns are compensated at $17.50 per hour and work full‑time, Mondays through Fridays, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. This internship is fully in‑person. Interns are assigned to a specific bureau within the Office and are directly supervised by an Assistant District Attorney or the Director of the Unit or Bureau.
College Aide (All City Depts) – 10209
Job Responsibilities- Assist with discovery and other case preparation tasks.
- Observe witness interviews, hearings, and trials.
- Listen to and transcribe 911 calls.
- Review police reports.
- Participate in arrest intake processing.
- Evaluate notifications of child abuse or endangerment.
- Assist in reviewing materials to be disclosed to the defense.
- Attend lectures and participate in a training program alongside law student interns.
- Assignment Level I: Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school.
- Assignment Level II (Information Technology): Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or closely related field, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study.
- Assignment Level III (Information Technology Fellow): Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or other area relevant to the information technology project(s) assigned, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study. Appointments to this Assignment Level will be made by the Technology Steering Committee through the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications.
Note
Maximum tenure for all Assignment Levels in the title of College Aide is 6 years. No student shall be employed more than half‑time in any week in which classes in which the student is enrolled are in session. Students may be employed full‑time during their vacation periods.
