We are seeking a Director of AI Assurance to lead the development and execution of the firm's independent assurance strategy over Artificial Intelligence (AI), Generative AI (GenAI), Machine Learning (ML), and Advanced Analytics technologies. This individual will be responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of AI governance, model risk management, regulatory compliance, and control frameworks across the enterprise.
The Director will partner closely with Internal Audit, Model Risk Management, Technology Risk, Compliance, Legal, Information Security, Data Governance, and Executive Leadership to ensure AI solutions are deployed responsibly, ethically, and in accordance with evolving regulatory expectations.
This role provides significant exposure to senior leadership, Risk Committees, and Board-level governance forums while helping shape the future of AI oversight within a globally regulated financial institution.
Key Responsibilities AI Governance & Assurance- Lead independent assurance reviews of enterprise AI, Generative AI, Machine Learning, and Advanced Analytics programs.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of AI governance frameworks, policies, standards, and oversight structures.
- Assess AI risk management practices across the full model lifecycle including development, validation, deployment, monitoring, and retirement.
- Review AI use case inventories, risk classification methodologies, approval processes, and ongoing monitoring programs.
- Provide independent challenge over AI-related risk decisions and governance committees.
- Conduct assurance reviews of enterprise GenAI platforms, AI copilots, large language models (LLMs), and employee productivity tools.
- Assess controls surrounding prompt management, data privacy, model outputs, hallucination risk, human oversight, and model explainability.
- Evaluate AI-enabled software development tools and coding assistants for compliance with technology risk and cybersecurity standards.
- Review AI adoption strategies and emerging technologies to identify operational, regulatory, reputational, and model risks.
- Monitor evolving regulatory expectations related to AI governance, model risk, consumer protection, privacy, and operational resilience.
- Assess compliance with applicable regulatory guidance impacting AI and machine learning technologies.
- Evaluate AI controls supporting Anti-Money Laundering (AML), sanctions screening, fraud detection, credit risk, trading surveillance, and customer-facing solutions.
- Prepare reports and presentations for executive leadership, Risk Committees, and Board-level stakeholders regarding AI-related risks and control effectiveness.
- Assess data governance frameworks supporting AI systems, including data lineage, data quality, metadata management, and access controls.
- Evaluate third-party AI providers and cloud-based AI solutions for compliance with vendor risk management, cybersecurity, privacy, and contractual requirements.
- Review controls surrounding sensitive data usage, intellectual property protection, and information security within AI environments.
- Assess cloud-hosted AI platforms and enterprise AI infrastructure for operational resilience and security risks.
- Develop AI-enabled assurance techniques to enhance audit coverage and risk monitoring capabilities.
- Implement continuous monitoring solutions leveraging advanced analytics and AI-driven risk indicators.
- Drive innovation within the Internal Audit function through the adoption of AI-powered audit analytics and automation tools.
- Mentor and develop team members focused on AI assurance, data analytics, and emerging technology risks.
10+ years of Audit or IT Risk experience out of a global financial services organization OR "Big 4" IT Advisory Practice
Extensive experience implementing and testing controls for AI tools
