Position: Sector Data Scientist
Location: New York

A leading global investment firm is expanding its sector-focused data science capability, embedding data more deeply into the investment research process. This team partners directly with investors to generate differentiated insights by applying rigorous analytics to large, complex, and often unstructured datasets.

This is a high-impact role for someone who enjoys turning raw data into clear, decision-ready insight — and who wants their work to directly influence how capital is allocated. You’ll operate as a thought partner to investment teams, bringing structure, speed, and analytical rigour to how data informs research and portfolio construction

The Role:
  • Partner with investment teams to understand their research approach and identify how data can strengthen decision-making
  • Analyse data from multiple structured and unstructured sources to test complex investment theses
  • Rapidly assess data relevance, detect emerging trends, and separate signal from noise
  • Identify the key operational and fundamental drivers across companies and sectors
  • Deliver high-quality research outputs in a clear, concise format tailored for senior investors
  • Help build and evolve scalable datasets, analytical frameworks, and decision-support tools
Experience/

Skills Required:
  • Strong intellectual curiosity with a genuine interest in markets and investing
  • Ability to quickly digest fundamental research and translate narratives into data-driven analysis
  • Advanced Python skills (including Pandas) and strong SQL
  • Solid background in statistical modelling and quantitative analysis
  • Experience working with large, complex, or unstructured datasets
  • Prior exposure to investment management, equity research, or buy-side analytics
  • Bachelor’s degree in statistics, engineering, economics, computer science, physics, or a related discipline
