We partner with the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey (PANYNJ) on high-impact infrastructure and technology initiatives. We are seeking talented professionals to collaborate with subject matter experts, project managers, and process owners to deliver critical projects.

Position Overview

We are seeking an Economic Data Analyst to support economic, demographic, transportation, and statistical analyses for a high-profile engagement with PANYNJ. This role will contribute to data-driven decision-making by collecting, organizing, analyzing, and interpreting complex datasets related to transportation activity, economic conditions, demographic trends, and public-sector planning initiatives.

The selected professional will work in a collaborative hybrid environment while managing multiple analytical assignments independently. The position offers the opportunity to support impactful infrastructure planning efforts through quantitative analysis, economic research, forecasting activities, reporting, and the development of actionable insights for stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect, validate, organize, and analyze economic, demographic, and transportation datasets.
  • Utilize public data sources including Census, USDOT, BLS, FRED, and related databases.
  • Identify and communicate trends related to inflation, labor markets, transportation activity, and demographic changes.
  • Develop analytical datasets and maintain organized documentation for knowledge transfer.
  • Perform quantitative, statistical, and econometric analyses to support business and planning decisions.
  • Work with large and complex datasets using Excel, Power BI, database queries, and analytical software.
  • Assist with automation of data collection and extraction processes using Python, R, or similar tools.
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative research on economic and industry topics.
  • Monitor economic releases and prepare summaries, commentary, and analytical reports.
  • Prepare presentations, written reports, and supporting documentation for stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
  • 1–3 years of professional experience in economics, transportation analysis, statistical analysis, data analytics, or related disciplines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • Experience using analytical software such as Python, R, Stata, EViews, or similar platforms.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of statistics and/or econometrics.
  • Experience working with quantitative and qualitative analysis methodologies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Ability to work on-site in New York City four days per week.
  • Ability to obtain a SWAC  associated security clearances upon hiring.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Data Analytics, Public Policy, or a related field.
  • Experience working with transportation-related datasets and analyses.
  • Experience conducting economic impact analyses, benefit-cost analyses, or forecasting activities.
  • Familiarity with public-sector economic and transportation data sources.
  • Experience automating data extraction and reporting processes.
  • Exposure to large-scale data management and business intelligence reporting.
