The mission of the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) Bureau of Immunization (BOI) is to prevent the occurrence and transmission of diseases through immunization. The mission of the DOHMH Healthy Homes (HHP) Program is to protect children from exposure to lead. This position will sit within BOI, reporting to the Director of Data Strategy and Analytics. The work will focus on expanding the collaboration of BOI and HHP in using the Citywide Immunization Registry (CIR) and the Master Child Index (MCI) to ensure that all NYC children are age-appropriately immunized and tested for lead at least twice by their 3rd birthday.

The CIR-HHP Coordinator will be tasked with implementing the CIR-HHP project's initiatives under Lead Free NYC which include programmatic activities, enhancements to the Citywide Immunization Registry (CIR), data analyses, and production of reports of quantitative and qualitative indicators to monitor progress toward project goals.

Under the direction of the Director of Research and Evaluation, the Citywide Immunization Registry (CIR)-HHP Project Liaison Analyst is critical to meet the goal of the Mayor’s Lead Free NYC initiative for all children to be tested for lead exposure at least twice by their 3rd birthday. This position will also be responsible for reporting progress to the Mayor’s Office of Operations.

It will not be possible to complete these activities and system enhancements without the CIR-HHP Coordinator.

Duties
  • Develop and implement protocols to promote use of CIR and MCI immunization and lead data and functionalities by DOHMH staff and pediatric healthcare providers throughout NYC.
  • Conduct analyses to identify factors associated with low childhood immunization and lead screening coverage rates at the healthcare provider, geographic, and citywide levels.
  • Participate in data quality projects targeting the integration/consolidation of CIR and HHP records to facilitate identification of children missing immunizations and/or lead testing.
  • Produce quantitative and qualitative indicators to monitor progress toward achieving high uptake of age-appropriate immunizations and lead testing among all NYC children younger than 3 years of age.
  • Collaborate with the Healthy Homes Program and other stakeholders to perform provider outreach, training, and other programmatic interventions.
  • Collaborate with computer consultants and BOI staff to develop, test and implement enhancements to the CIR and MCI and other internal applications.
  • Participate in activities to improve CIR data quality, including demographic and immunization data updates, merging duplicate records identified by providers and internal staff, and through the public access application (MVR), and unmerging falsely merged records.
  • Coordinate ongoing and ad-hoc de-duplication efforts targeting specific CIR cohorts or provider lists. Create training and educational materials for the CIR.
  • Provide technical assistance to providers accessing the CIR using the Online Registry.
  • Prepare abstracts, articles, and presentations for national, regional, and local publications, conferences, and meetings to disseminate the findings of research projects.
  • Participate in BOI and emergency response activities as needed.
