BI Platform Engineer

Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Senior BI Platform Engineer to join one of our financial services clients in New York, NY (hybrid). This individual will sit within the Data Engineering organization and own the stability, scalability, governance, and automation of the enterprise BI ecosystem. The environment spans Sigma Computing, Tableau, Power BI, and Alteryx, supporting critical reporting and analytics across the business.

This role is highly platform-focused, requiring end‑to‑end ownership of BI operations including capacity planning, license management, integrations, authentication, and API‑driven automation. The engineer will manage performance monitoring, user access, and platform health while ensuring seamless connectivity with tools like Snowflake and Azure. On a daily basis, this person will partner with data engineering teams and business users to troubleshoot dashboards, resolve data access issues, and optimize performance across BI platforms.

They will also act as the primary liaison with vendor support teams (Sigma, Microsoft, Tableau, Alteryx), managing escalations and ensuring timely resolution of issues. Additionally, this role will drive governance standards, maintain documentation, track work in Jira/Confluence, and conduct root cause analysis to continuously improve platform reliability and user experience.

• 10+ years of experience in BI Platform Engineering or Administration across tools like Sigma, Tableau, Power BI, and Alteryx
• Hands‑on experience managing enterprise BI environments, including governance, user provisioning, and multi‑tenant architecture
• Strong experience with BI platform administration:
  • Sigma Computing (workspace governance, APIs, monitoring)
  • Tableau Cloud/Server (upgrades, REST API, Bridge, access control)
  • Power BI (capacities, gateways, Fabric, REST API)
  • Alteryx Server (administration, scheduling, APIs)
• Experience with authentication and identity management tools such as Okta SSO/SAML and Microsoft Entra  (Azure AD)
• Ability to automate workflows and platform tasks using APIs and scripting (Python, Power Shell)
• Strong troubleshooting skills with ability to perform root cause analysis across dashboards, workflows, and data pipelines
• Experience supporting BI users, resolving dashboard issues, and optimizing performance and adoption metrics
• Proven experience managing vendor relationships and handling support escalations across BI platforms
• Strong documentation and communication skills; experience working in Jira and Confluence environments
• Experience with Snowflake and Azure Data Factory (ADF) for data integration and ETL orchestration
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for BI content deployment
• Experience managing large‑scale, multi‑platform BI ecosystems with cross‑platform governance and automation
• Exposure to integrating BI tools with modern cloud data platforms and enterprise authentication systems
