Carlyle Alp Invest is seeking a highly analytical and hands‑on Business Intelligence Engineer to help elevate how data drives insight, decision‑making, and value creation across the platform.

This role is designed for a technically strong BI professional who thrives at the intersection of data engineering, analytics, and stakeholder engagement. This is not a pure oversight role, we are looking for someone who remains deeply hands‑on in data modeling, dashboard development, and insight generation.

Responsibilities
  • Translate complex business questions into scalable analytical solutions.
  • Proactively identify opportunities where data can drive better investment, portfolio, operational, or strategic decisions.
  • Move beyond dashboard production to generate actionable insights that influence senior stakeholders.
  • Elevate reporting from descriptive metrics to forward‑looking, insight‑driven analysis.
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data models to support enterprise‑level reporting and analytics.
  • Develop intuitive, high‑impact dashboards and visualizations (Power BI preferred).
  • Partner with data engineering to ensure clean, reliable, well‑modeled datasets.
  • Implement best practices in semantic modeling, performance optimization, and governance.
  • Support the evolution of a modern BI ecosystem with reusable, scalable assets.
Data Modeling & Transformation
  • Build robust dimensional and analytical data models.
  • Work with modern transformation frameworks (dbt experience preferred).
  • Ensure data quality, documentation, and lineage.
  • Contribute to standards around data definitions and metric consistency.
  • Experience in creating semantic models for AI services a plus.
Stakeholder Management & Influence
  • Act as a thought partner to investment, portfolio, and operational teams.
  • Gather requirements through structured engagement while challenging assumptions where needed.
  • Manage competing priorities across stakeholders with clarity and discipline.
  • Present findings clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Help foster a data‑driven culture across Carlyle Alp Invest.
  • Operate with a manager mindset — setting standards, mentoring junior team members, and improving ways of working.
  • Contribute to the long‑term BI and analytics roadmap.
  • Balance strategic thinking with execution excellence.
Qualifications Education & Certificates
  • Bachelor’s Degree, required
  • Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Finance, Business, or a related field, preferred
Professional Experience
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Analytics Engineering, or Data Analytics roles.
  • Experience working in financial services, asset management, private markets, or complex enterprise environments a plus.
  • Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python, R, SQL), dashboarding tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau), and data management platforms. Strong knowledge of data architecture, automation, and system integration.
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Azure, AWS, GCP) preferred.
  • Exceptional problem‑solving skills with a track record of using data to derive insights and drive decision‑making.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into actionable business strategies for senior leadership.
  • Ability to lead projects and collaborate across diverse teams, including non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, high‑stakes environment with an ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

The compensation range for this role is specific to New York and takes into account a wide range of factors including but not limited to the skill sets required/preferred; prior experience and training; licenses and/or certifications.
