Job Description
Trigyn's direct government client has an immediate need for an Oracle Database Administrator in Albany, NY.
DescriptionThe department is seeking an Oracle expert to support their mission-critical Oracle databases. The environment is very complex and utilizes many advanced features such as RAC, multitenant, Data Guard, APEX, and a highly-customized Enterprise Manager solution for monitoring and administration. The databases support numerous custom in-house as well as vendor-supported applications, some of which have a health and safety impact when down and thus have 24/7 uptime requirements.
Responsibilities- Work in a gatekeeper capacity to protect the Oracle environment by carefully reviewing all incoming requests from application teams and others.
- Carefully review all alerts daily, including logging into the server(s) and monitoring logs, performance metrics, etc., and take appropriate remedial action where necessary.
- Perform Oracle system administration activities.
- Perform Oracle hardware support such as system racking, stacking, cabling, component replacement, etc.
- Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and maintain Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM).
- Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and maintain Oracle operating systems, firmware, cluster ware, etc.
- Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and maintain Oracle databases.
- Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and maintain APEX (database tier only).
- Use OEM to proactively detect issues using advanced features such as metric extensions, monitoring templates, etc.
- Handle server and/or database crashes, performance issues, etc.
- Document all processes, revising and perfecting them on an ongoing basis.
- Automate processes where possible and continually refine them.
- Work with application and helpdesk teams to keep server and client-side Oracle drivers up-to-date.
- Effectively work with Oracle Support and their support portal, including understanding portal integration with hardware assets, ASR fault monitoring, etc., and maintaining those functionalities.
- Mentor and train junior staff.
- Experience using specialized software to store and organize data, which may include capacity planning, installation, configuration, database design, migration, performance monitoring, security, troubleshooting, backup, and data recovery.
- Ability to provide guidance to large teams and/or extensive industry experience as a top professional in the field.
- Oracle Database Administration 2019 Certified Professional or OCP certification in version 12c or higher.
Note:
Oracle AI Database Administration Certified Professional does not count. - 84 months of experience installing, configuring, patching, upgrading, and maintaining Oracle database 12c or higher in a Unix-like environment (AIX, Linux). Must be specifically with multitenant RAC databases configured with Data Guard; engineered systems and cloud environments do not count.
- 84 months of experience troubleshooting Oracle 12c or higher critical issues such as server and database crashes, failed disks, etc., including work with Oracle Support Services.
- 36 months of experience installing, configuring, patching, upgrading, and maintaining Oracle Database Appliance, specifically with high availability models configured with version 12c or higher RAC databases.
- 84 months of experience troubleshooting Oracle 12c or higher database performance and related issues, including collaboration with other teams to identify issue tier (storage, network, database, or application).
- 84 months of experience using Data Pump Export/Import and RMAN for backup and recovery of Oracle 12c or higher databases, including RMAN recovery.
- 84 months of experience installing, configuring, patching, upgrading, and maintaining Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) 13c or higher in a Unix-like environment (AIX, Linux).
- 84 months of experience utilizing OEM to proactively detect issues using advanced features such as metric extensions, monitoring templates, etc.
- 36 months of experience installing, configuring, patching, upgrading, and maintaining APEX (database tier) on version 12c or higher databases.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
- 84 months of experience documenting processes, including creation of system architecture diagrams.
- 36 months of experience maintaining server hardware (racking and stacking, cabling, component replacement).
