IT Systems Engineer, Identity & Automation @ Clay
The IT Team at Clay is seeking an experienced Senior IT Systems Engineer to help build and scale the systems that power employee access, security, device management, and IT operations.
As Clay continues to grow, we are investing in a modern, automation-first IT foundation built around identity, device trust, lifecycle management, and operational scale.
What You’ll Do- Build the foundation of identity ’ll help design and deploy the systems that govern how employees access technology across the company, including identity architecture, access management, lifecycle automation, and device trust.
- Create seamless employee experiences by building onboarding, offboarding, and device enrollment workflows that are secure and effortless.
- Automate everything possible. Design and implement workflows that eliminate manual work, improve consistency, and allow IT to scale efficiently across lifecycle management, access provisioning, SaaS administration, and operational processes.
- Help build the systems that power IT, contributing to the evolution of our internal technology stack for identity, endpoint management, service management, and operational workflows.
- Partner across teams—including Security, People Ops, Finance, GTM, and Engineering—to deliver technology solutions that support business goals while maintaining a strong employee experience.
- Raise the bar for operational excellence by improving reliability, security, and scalability across internal systems and supporting compliance and governance initiatives.
- At least 6 years of experience in IT engineering, enterprise systems, identity and access management, or a related role.
- Okta Certified Administrator or Okta Certified Consultant certification, or equivalent hands‑on experience with a significant Okta implementation (preferred).
- Experience designing, implementing, or expanding identity and access management platforms such as Okta.
- Understanding of modern identity concepts including SSO, lifecycle management, SCIM, RBAC, group-based access controls, device trust, and conditional access.
- Passion for automation and experience building workflows with tools such as Okta Workflows, N8N, Tines, Workato, or similar.
- Experience supporting endpoint management, device security, and modern workplace technologies.
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity and building systems and processes from the ground up.
- Ability to balance long‑term architectural thinking with hands‑on operational work.
- Excellent collaboration and communication across technical and non‑technical teams.
- Can‑do, get‑it‑done attitude, ready to do whatever it takes to launch a nascent IT department smoothly.
- Have led an Okta deployment, migration, or identity transformation initiative.
- Have supported high‑growth organizations as they scaled from hundreds to thousands of employees.
- Have experience with workflow automation, low‑code automation platforms, or internal tooling.
- Have familiarity with security, compliance, and governance frameworks such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, or HITRUST.
- Have designed zero‑trust or device trust architectures.
- Have familiarity with modern MDM platforms such as Kandji, Mosyle, Jamf, or Intune.

Compensation Range: $160K - $210K
