Role OverviewWe’re representing a leading electronic trading firm with a global platform built around high-performance, mission-critical Linux infrastructure. This is a hands-on systems engineering role focused on automating, tuning and improving the platforms that support live trading across global markets. Key Responsibilities- Support and improve Linux-based infrastructure powering low-latency trading systems
- Use Python, Ansible and scripting to automate configuration, tooling and large-scale systems management
- Investigate and resolve production issues across mission‑critical Linux platforms
- Contribute to performance and reliability improvements, including latency reduction and transaction-time optimisation
- Manage infrastructure changes, configuration updates and server lifecycle activity
- Work closely with systems engineering, infrastructure and technology teams across global offices
- Support longer-term platform planning, capacity forecasting and infrastructure improvement work
- 5-12 years’ deep hands‑on Linux/Unix systems engineering experience in production environments
- Strong practical Python experience for automation, tooling and infrastructure scripting
- Good Ansible experience for configuration management across Linux-based platforms
- Strong troubleshooting skills across OS, hardware, services and network‑adjacent issues
- Familiarity with Git and standard software engineering workflows
- Experience working in high-pressure, high-availability environments where infrastructure changes have real business impact
- Solid understanding of core networking protocols including TCP, UDP, IP, DHCP, NFS, TFTP and NTP
- Exposure to high-performance computing, large-scale distributed systems or latency-sensitive platforms
- Exposure to BIOS-level configuration, server builds or hardware/platform provisioning
- Ability to balance daily production support with longer-term infrastructure project work
- (Preferred) Experience supporting trading, market data, exchange connectivity or low-latency infrastructure
- (Preferred) Exposure to NAS environments or data centre-based infrastructure
