Data Analyst
Location: New York
Position Summary
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Data Analyst (FGP) – Radiology. In this role, the successful candidate supports department‑wide data collection, analysis, distribution, governance, and strategic data initiatives. This position reports to the Manager of Data Analytics and is responsible for database, dashboard, analytic, and data reporting support as well as conducting projects affiliated with all missions.
The role involves developing and managing databases, designing and managing data collection methods, statistical data analysis, creating reports, and data visualization to present to departmental leadership.
- Extracts data from the medical centers data warehouse via Azure Databricks
- Creates and maintains complex SQL codes and stored procedures that feed and refresh data models
- Conducts analysis by compiling data, managing databases, analyzing data and presenting results in numerical and graphic formats
- Assists department leadership in conducting process analysis, problem identification and root cause analysis, organization and environmental analysis and formulating recommendations for improvement
- Assists in coordinating and facilitating communication within the department to ensure consistent analytical approaches
- Assists in sharing knowledge, best practices, and analytical approaches
- Plays an active role in providing data for operational improvements
- Visualizes analytic insights and creates dashboards with Tableau for end stakeholders to use in decision‑making and monitoring of performance
- Manages and improves existing databases; develops programs, methodologies, and files for analyzing and presenting data
- Works with clinical, administrative and operational data, and is responsible for analyzing and presenting data; performs data analysis in support of ad‑hoc and standing requests
- Researches new data sources and analytical tools/methodologies; contributes to new product development and improvement in product delivery and presentation
- Assists leadership in developing the Department of Radiology
- Provides subject matter expertise in the area of data analytics
- Supports department adherence to NYU Langone Health data‑related policies & procedures
- Serves as a liaison between the department and the greater data science community both within NYU and at‑large
- Stays up to date with data science technologies and best practices
- Performs additional duties as assigned
- Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Public Health, Computer or Systems Engineering or related field that further developed your expertise in the business of health and healthcare
- 1-2+ years of experience in writing complex SQL, including complex joins, subqueries, and aggregation
- 1+ years of data analytics experience using data visualization software such as Tableau; proven ability to create concise reports based upon specifications requested by management
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced proficiency in Excel
- Attention to detail, especially with regard to data visualization
- Strong oral, written and presentation communication skills
- Master's in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Public Health, Computer or Systems Engineering or related field that further developed your expertise in the business of health and healthcare

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for this role is $70,481.61 – $ annually. Actual salaries depend on experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
