Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in server architecture and design, with a focus on Power Edge solutions
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Required skills:
PPDM, Avamar 19.8 & later, Data Domain 7.7 & later, DPA 19.4 & later - Nice to have skills: knowledge of Isilon, CloudIQ, Vcenter, NDMP, Service Now, Office 365, networking, FTP, and engaging support; scripting experience and familiarity with UNIX & Power Shell commands
- Check and confirm all systems maintenance on ten Avamar servers (two physical, eight virtual) and eleven Data Domains (two DD 9800, nine DD9900)
- Monitor daily backup failures (VM snapshot, NAS, DB2, Oracle, file system backups)
- Handle restore requests from customers
- Create DPA reports for customers
- Verify LPR backups on MDC/PSAC2
- Manage Computer Crimes NAS backup, ensuring current year completes and older year backups are managed manually
- Work with support on hardware issues such as disk or memory failures and coordinate with CEs
- Support Elastic Cloud troubleshooting, including certificate updates, disk replacements, and reporting
- Perform upgrades to Data Domain
- Monitor CloudIQ for DPS and resolve open issues
- Perform upgrades to Avamar & DPA
- Attend customer meetings to review backup-related issues
- Attend CAB (Service Now) meetings
- Manage multiple active projects simultaneously, based on customer direction, including:
- Data protection capacity expansion – managing and rebalancing Data Domain data across all arrays in the CC cluster; design, deployment, and data migration
- Avamar virtualization – design and implementation to reduce hardware, power, and maintenance costs across data centers; current status includes eight virtualized Avamar across multiple DCs and two physical Avamar servers at 1PP, MDC, and PSAC2; additional virtual Avamar ready for deployment
- DPS MDC refresh – design and implementation of latest DD9900s at 1PP DC; migrate data from Avamar LPR/PS01 DD9800/9900 from MDC to 1PP and load balance to core DDs
- DPS PSAC2 refresh – similar design and implementation at PSAC2; migrate data from Avamar LPR/PS01 DD9800/9900 from PSAC2 to 1PP and load balance to core DDs
- Recall data from PAQ ECS to PSAC2 Data Domain and migrate to balance across Core DD (over 90% completed)
