The Applications Support group is responsible for the production environment for a wide range of applications used by Finance, Risk, Compliance and Human Resources functions within the company. The team provides Level 2 technical support to internal end‑users and monitors the health of systems’ processing across Citi’s proprietary applications and tools. Given Citi’s global presence, the successful candidate will support global and/or regional applications to ensure seamless 24 x 7 support working closely with counterparts globally in a follow‑the‑sun model, along with application development teams, technology infrastructure teams, project teams and the internal Finance, Compliance, and/or HR business lines.

The position requires strong analytical, communication, diplomacy and informal/formal leadership skills, and involves coaching and training new recruits.

Responsibilities
  • Provide front line support for Citi’s proprietary technologies, including hands‑on investigation and issue resolution, incident management and participation in initiatives to improve the production platform.
  • Support applications and their operating environments, focusing on stability and functionality against service level expectations.
  • Champion stability initiatives to enable application high availability for Business-As-Usual, including better monitoring, failover, and resiliency.
  • Perform controlled resolution of incidents and problems, including prioritization, escalation, root cause analysis and follow‑through to resolution.
  • Assess risk and impact of production issues and expedite escalation to business and technology management.
  • Partner with development and production support areas to prioritize bug fixes and support tooling requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with operations, technology and business partners on a regional or global basis.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of how each area of app support contributes to business goals.
  • Interact with software vendors to provide optimal solutions to business problems.
  • Participate in disaster recovery testing.
  • Participate in application releases, testing and deployment into production when required.
  • Perform post‑release checkouts after application releases and infrastructure updates.
  • Develop and maintain technical support documentation.
  • Perform other duties and functions as assigned.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to policy, applying sound ethical judgment and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience in System Analysis, Applications Support roles, Level 2 support.
  • Working experience with Unix or Linux environment and handling ETL jobs, with expertise in UNIX to identify issues at the data level and trace file transfers.
  • Experience supporting relational databases – Oracle, Microsoft SQL – with strong database level analysis skills and ability to write complex efficient SQL DML statements.
  • Experience in Incident and Problem Management, including incident tracking, reporting, and ticketed query systems;
    Service Now knowledge is a plus (ITIL).
  • Knowledge of scheduling tools such as Autosys.
  • Knowledge of data analysis and reporting tools is a plus.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues in simple terms for non‑IT staff.
  • Ability to operate with limited supervision; shift schedule 16/7, rotational weekend working (alternate week).
Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, IT, or another engineering discipline. Exceptional candidates who do not meet these criteria may be considered if they have the necessary skills and work experience.
