A large nonprofit human services organization is seeking an experienced Senior Director of Information Technology to lead its enterprise technology strategy and operations. Supporting multiple service locations and mission-critical programs, the organization relies on secure, scalable technology to serve vulnerable populations and support a growing workforce.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this executive leadership role is responsible for overseeing enterprise infrastructure, cybersecurity, cloud technologies, data systems, and IT operations while driving technology initiatives that improve organizational effectiveness.
Position SummaryThe Senior Director of Information Technology & Data provides strategic and operational leadership across all aspects of information technology. This individual will develop and execute the organization's technology roadmap, oversee enterprise infrastructure and security, manage technology teams and vendors, and ensure reliable, secure systems that support both administrative and program operations.
The ideal candidate combines executive leadership with strong technical expertise and has successfully led enterprise technology environments through modernization, cloud adoption, cybersecurity initiatives, and large-scale systems implementations.
Key Responsibilities IT Strategy & Executive Leadership- Develop and execute the organization's enterprise technology strategy aligned with long-term business objectives
- Advise executive leadership on technology investments, cybersecurity risks, infrastructure planning, and digital transformation initiatives
- Establish IT governance, policies, standards, and operational best practices
- Lead technology planning to support organizational growth and evolving operational needs
- Oversee enterprise infrastructure including networking, cloud platforms, telecommunications, servers, endpoint management, and business applications
- Lead administration and optimization of the organization's Microsoft 365 environment, including identity management, collaboration tools, security, governance, and workflow automation
- Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, business continuity, and overall system reliability across multiple operating locations
- Direct enterprise technology modernization initiatives and infrastructure improvements
- Develop and oversee enterprise cybersecurity strategy and security operations
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, security standards, and organizational policies
- Lead vulnerability management, threat monitoring, incident response, and risk mitigation initiatives
- Conduct technology risk assessments and oversee remediation efforts
- Provide executive oversight for enterprise business applications, reporting platforms, and operational systems
- Partner with Finance, Human Resources, Operations, and Program Leadership to support business reporting and system integration
- Establish data governance standards that promote security, integrity, and accessibility
- Support organizational analytics and reporting initiatives through reliable technology infrastructure
- Lead and mentor IT managers, engineers, analysts, and technical support staff
- Oversee help desk operations, endpoint lifecycle management, and enterprise technology support
- Develop departmental budgets and manage technology investments
- Establish service standards and key performance metrics
- Manage relationships with technology vendors, managed service providers, consultants, and strategic partners
- Lead enterprise-wide technology implementations, upgrades, cloud migrations, and infrastructure modernization initiatives
- Oversee project planning, budgeting, vendor coordination, user adoption, and organizational change management
- Ensure projects are completed on schedule and aligned with strategic objectives
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
- Advanced degree preferred
- 10+ years of progressive enterprise IT leadership experience
- Demonstrated expertise managing Microsoft 365 environments, cloud technologies, enterprise infrastructure, cybersecurity, and identity management
- Experience leading enterprise technology migrations and digital transformation initiatives
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, compliance standards, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning
- Experience managing enterprise technology budgets, vendor relationships, and cross-functional initiatives
- Excellent executive communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into business strategy
