Media Delivery Operations Specialist at Disney Entertainment & ESPN Product & Technology in San Francisco, CA / Santa Monica, CA / New York, NY. The role supports the audio and video encoding supply chain for Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ and provides operational and procedural support for partner products, ensuring proper functionality across all platforms.
Job SummaryThe Media Delivery team is responsible for the entire audio and video encoding supply chain from content acquisition to delivery, ensuring high‑quality live and on‑demand streaming. As a Media Delivery Operator, you will monitor and troubleshoot the VOD ingestion pipeline, coordinate with external partners, manage content deadlines, and provide technical expertise for content issues.
Responsibilities- Serve as a subject matter and technical expert for supply chain operations
- Review audio/visual content against strict deadlines
- Coordinate with external partners to fix content to ensure deadlines are met
- Research and normalize metadata
- Create tracking tickets for assets that need remediation and follow them to completion
- Provide technical expertise for content issues with A/V, XML, and timed text
- Monitor the health of the encoding pipeline and provide technical and operational support
- Identify and triage internal incidents, escalating them appropriately
- Update documentation and train team members on procedures
- Provide ongoing status of the overall health of the ingest pipeline to senior staff
- Support ingest pipeline and supply chain technical issues
- Troubleshoot and debug content issues and escalation as appropriate
- Handle special projects at the request of a manager
- Minimum of 3 years of related work experience
- Bachelor’s degree
- Background in video or film preferred
- Strong knowledge of video codecs and encoding
- Familiarity with video streaming, specifically HLS
- Understanding of closed captions and subtitles
- Understanding of XML and/or JSON structure
- Knowledge of industry standard delivery specifications such as Cable Labs and Movie Labs
- Previous experience supporting a VOD workflow or Digital Asset Management system
- Strong organizational skills; must be able to track large scale projects
- Strong multi‑tasking abilities and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal guidance
- Experience in Quality Control department
- Knowledge of Aspera or other advanced delivery systems
- Spanish language proficiency
San Francisco, CA: $73,100 to $98,000 per year. Base pay considers internal equity and geographic region. Bonus and/or long‑term incentive units may be included, as well as a full range of medical, financial and other benefits.
