Location: New York
We are looking for a Senior Messaging & Email Security Engineer with strong, hands‑on expertise in Cisco Iron Port to join a global technology team supporting enterprise email infrastructure and security. This is a hands‑on senior role combining deep technical expertise with project ownership, ideal for someone who thrives on solving complex infrastructure challenges and mentoring peers.
What You’ll Do- Own the full lifecycle of messaging infrastructure projects, from specification to delivery, providing technical recommendations to management
- Manage and secure enterprise secure email gateways (Cisco Iron Port - primary; Proofpoint a plus) and email platforms (Exchange Online/M365, Exchange Server 2016/2019/SE)
- Apply and maintain email security controls (SPF, DKIM, DMARC, anti‑spam, anti‑malware) across the enterprise
- Design, script, and automate operational tasks via Power Shell
- Administer Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and Load Balancers
- Support identity and federation services (ADFS, Entra , SAML)
- Troubleshoot complex issues, identify root causes, and drive permanent fixes
- Collaborate with technical and product teams on requirements and specifications
- Document systems, workflows, and procedures for team and management reference
- Maintain system inventories and support change/incident management (Service Now)
- Participate in an out‑of‑hours on‑call rotation
- Excellent, hands‑on experience with Cisco Iron Port (required) – Proofpoint experience a plus
- 10+ years of relevant experience in enterprise infrastructure/messaging engineering
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- Solid experience with Microsoft messaging platforms (Exchange Online/M365, Exchange 2016/2019/SE)
- Deep understanding of email security controls and best practices
- Advanced Power Shell scripting skills
- Strong background in Active Directory, GPO, DNS, and Load Balancers
- Experience with ADFS, Entra , and SAML
- Experience managing Windows Server 2016/2019 environments at scale
- Familiarity with virtual machines and vendor appliances
- Excellent troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis skills
- Familiarity with Service Now and ITIL‑based change/incident management
- Experience with M&A technology integrations
