Systems Engineer, Cloud Computing: Infrastructure & Operations
Overview

AWS is looking for an experienced Solution Architect to help space companies achieve their missions through the power of cloud. Industry segments include launch services, human spaceflight, robotic/autonomous systems, mission control center operations, space stations, satellite constellations, ground segment, emergency response services, IoT solutions, earth observation, broadcast communications, and various government capabilities.
Key Responsibilities- Work directly with customers to accelerate their missions and recommend best‑practice architectures aligned with long‑term business outcomes.
- Build technical relationships with customers and act as their trusted advisor, keeping the customer’s best interests at the forefront.
- Share the voice of the customer to inform the AWS roadmap.
- Participate in the creation and sharing of best practices, technical content and new reference architectures (e.g., white papers, code samples, blog posts).
- Evangelise and educate about AWS technology through workshops, user groups, conferences, online videos or public speaking.
- Contribute to the growth of the Solutions Architecture organisation by interviewing candidates and participating in hiring decisions.
- Develop depth in technical domains relevant to your interests and customer outcomes.
- 8+ years of experience in technology domains such as software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, or data & analytics.
- 3+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures.
- 10+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries.
- Experience communicating with technical and non‑technical audiences, including executive‑level stakeholders.
- Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret or above.
- 5+ years of infrastructure architecture, database architecture, and networking experience.
- Experience working with end‑user or developer communities.
- Experience in a technical role within a sales organization.
The selected candidate must be a U.S. citizen and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance. The position may require up to 25% travel to customer sites and AWS locations.
Salary & BenefitsBase salary ranges by location:
• Beverly Hills, CA: 153,600 – 207,800 USD annually
• San Francisco, CA: 176,600 – 239,000 USD annually
• Chicago, IL: 153,600 – 207,800 USD annually
• Austin, TX: 153,600 – 207,800 USD annually
• Arlington, VA: 153,600 – 207,800 USD annually
• Seattle, WA: 153,600 – 207,800 USD annually
