Team

A&M’s Private Equity Performance Improvement Services (PEPI) practice focuses on serving upper mid‑market and large‑cap private equity firms. We help improve operating results for their portfolio companies, which typically range from $50 million to over $1 billion.

How You Will Contribute

We bring a structured and disciplined approach to create and capture value. We provide private equity buyers and their portfolio companies with a broad continuum of knowledge and tools for mergers, acquisitions, carve‑outs, joint‑ventures and alliances. The team works across the full spectrum of the deal lifecycle: pre‑deal technology, operational and synergy reviews, “Day‑1” planning, and post‑deal implementations. Our services include due diligence (software product and technology, IT and operational), merger integration / carve‑out planning and execution, transition service agreement negotiation & governance, ERP implementations, IT operations & cost reduction, and enterprise architecture.

Responsibilities

In this role, managers conduct software product and technology due diligence assessments on target organizations for private equity clients. Assessments focus on:

  • Product features, functionality and roadmap
  • Technology and architecture
  • Intellectual property and open‑source usage
  • R&D organization and processes, including the software development lifecycle
  • R&D OpEx and Cap Ex expenditures
  • Hosting infrastructure

Assessments are performed in the following engagements:

  • Pre‑acquisition, buy‑side software product and tech due diligence
  • Pre‑transaction, sell‑side software product and tech due diligence
  • Pre‑acquisition, synergy and cost take‑out assessment for roll‑up and tuck‑in acquisitions
  • Post‑acquisition, software product and tech related value creation and performance improvement

Key engagement responsibilities include:

  • Participate in key target and client interactions, including interviews, interim updates, final readouts and follow‑ups
  • Develop and manage the data request list, coordinating with bankers and the client
  • Conduct detailed analysis of the target, gathering quantitative and qualitative data
  • Summarize insights into client‑ready exhibits and deliverable sections
  • Ensure deliverable quality and manage day‑to‑day relationships for exceptional performance
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff
Qualifications
  • 5‑8 years of consulting or relevant industry experience, with at least five years focused on tech consulting, software/tech‑enabled services, or product management
  • Experience working with private equity sponsors, portfolio companies, or transaction/tech due diligence (desired)
  • Exemplary oral and written communication skills, including the ability to produce executive‑level client deliverables
  • Track record working with business leaders (directors and above) and private equity deal staff
  • Strong fact‑gathering and analytical skills, both quantitative and qualitative
  • Background in software/product development or advisory experience from a top‑tier strategy firm, specialist advisory firm, or Big‑4 consultancy
  • Ability to translate technical insights into commercial implications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or another highly analytical field
  • Flexibility to travel at least 75 % of the time
