Principal Associate, Process Risk Optimization - Enterprise Services Risk
The Enterprise Services Risk organization is expanding with a focus on attracting innovative, pioneering, collaborative, and highly skilled professionals. We operate at the forefront of risk management, supporting novel and developing technologies and critical business strategies. As a Principal Associate on the Process Risk Optimization (PRO) Team, you will work with business partners and other PRO team members to proactively identify and develop risk mitigation solutions for Capital One, driving executive leadership decision‑making and strengthening our risk posture.
Responsibilities- Work with business partners and PRO team members to identify, assess, measure, monitor, control, and report process‑level risks across Enterprise Services functional areas.
- Advise business partners on risk and contribute to process improvements and risk reductions, building subject‑matter knowledge and critical thinking.
- Research novel regulatory trends and internal process changes to improve existing risks and identify emerging risks.
- Educate stakeholders on applying risk management principles in alignment with Enterprise frameworks and standards.
- Support project and program delivery, draft deliverables in a fast‑paced environment, and work across multiple work streams.
- Prioritize simultaneous projects and assessments, manage task deadlines, keep team members informed, and proactively raise issues.
- Participate in risk and management forums to contribute to continuous improvement of risk and program management practices.
- Support internal initiatives that drive efficiency and process improvements within and across teams.
Basic Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification.
- At least 3 years of experience in risk management.
- At least 3 years of experience supporting, partnering, and interacting with business clients.
- Bachelor’s Degree or relevant military experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in project, program, or portfolio management.
- At least 1 year of Financial Services industry experience.
- Experience with analysis of information security or technology threats and risks.
- Background in the financial services industry, including familiarity with regulatory practices, governance, risk, and compliance, information and network security, AWS cloud, machine learning and artificial intelligence, data management, third‑party and contingent workforce, incident response.
- Process development, documentation, or improvement experience.
- Experience in controls development, controls management, and reporting activities.
- Hold one or more of the following certifications:
CompTIA Security+, CompTIA Tech+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Project+, Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP), Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM), ISACA Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC), ISACA IT Audit Fundamentals Certificate, and technology vendor certifications (e.g., AWS, Microsoft, Google). - Excellent communication, stakeholder‑centered thinking, and ability to navigate a complex, dynamic organization.
- Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and critical‑thinking skills to respond to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines.
- Ability to coordinate cross‑functional teams and execute tasks in a prioritized manner.

New York, NY: $143,200–$163,500
Richmond, VA: $119,400–$136,200
Performance‑based incentive compensation may include cash bonus(es) and/or long‑term incentives.
