About the Role
We're looking for an experienced Analytics Engineer to become the first dedicated analytics hire within a fast-growing technology company. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys building data foundations from the ground up and taking ownership of the semantic layer that powers reporting, analytics, and strategic decision-making.
You'll define core business metrics, build scalable and reusable dbt models, and create trusted datasets that enable teams across the business to make data-driven decisions. This is a high-impact role with significant ownership and the opportunity to shape the company's analytics function as it scales.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and own the production dbt project, defining core business entities and creating reusable, well-tested data models.
- Design and maintain a semantic layer that provides consistent business metrics across teams.
- Develop reverse ETL pipelines to deliver clean, modelled data into operational systems, marketing platforms, and product workflows.
- Implement and maintain robust data governance, access controls, and compliance with data privacy regulations.
- Partner closely with engineering, product, operations, and data stakeholders to translate complex business requirements into scalable data solutions.
- Improve data quality, reliability, and documentation across the analytics ecosystem.
- Establish best practices for analytics engineering, testing, and data modelling.
Requirements
Experience
- 6+ years of experience in Analytics Engineering, Data Engineering, Data Analytics, or a hybrid data/software engineering role.
- Background in software engineering or data engineering with strong analytics expertise.
- Experience building data platforms or analytics infrastructure in fast-growing startups or early-stage companies.
- Proven experience building greenfield data platforms or analytics functions from scratch (0-to-1 ownership).
- Experience working with sensitive or regulated data (e.g. healthcare, fintech, insurance, or government).
- Demonstrated ownership of analytics projects from design through implementation.
Technical Skills
- Strong experience with dbt and modern data modelling practices.
- Experience with cloud data warehouses such as Big Query, Snowflake, or Amazon Redshift.
- Experience managing orchestration tools such as dbt Cloud or Apache Airflow.
- Understanding of semantic layers, data governance, and reverse ETL.
