Position: Information Technology Specialist (INFOSEC) with Security Clearance
Location: Watervliet

Duties
* Develops policies and procedures to ensure information systems reliability and accessibility and to prevent and defend against unauthorized access to systems, networks, and data.
* Manages Information Assurance (IA) plans for the installation.
* Evaluates and recommends the adoption of new information technology security methods that will enhance capabilities.
* Oversees the execution of the IA training and awareness program.
* Reviews the status of all information security and/or networks to ensure no security relevant changes have been made which would invalidate the accreditation.
* Reviews threat and vulnerability assessments to analyze the risk to information technology and networks, and determines appropriate measures to effectively manage those risks. Requirements Conditions of employment
* Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
* Incumbent must have an Information Assurance (IA) Workforce certification for Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) and/or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) within six months of appointment to the position.
* This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
* This position is eligible for certification IAW DoD 8570-01-M, 12/19/05
* DATACL2A - TACOM D and A Level 2 Analyzer Certification Requirement.
* The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs may be warranted.
* This position may be subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident. Experience:

One year of specialized experience which includes (1) maintaining hardware/software components and operating systems; (2) monitoring and scanning of network resources to ensure the network complies with policies, procedures, and/or guidelines; (3) conducting risk and vulnerability assessments of information systems to identify weaknesses, risks or protection needs; and (4) Providing advice and guidance on implementing Information Assurance (IA) policy, procedures and/or systems.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined: (1) Attention to Detail

Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: completing thorough and accurate work independently, even in the most difficult or stressful situations; occasionally reviewing work completed by others.
