AboutThe Role
As a Staff Data Analyst within Upstart’s Servicing Analytics team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the company’s success by driving data-driven decision-making across servicing functions. You will partner closely with product management, operations, engineering, and machine learning teams to develop insights, optimize strategies, and enhance data infrastructure related to recoveries and collections. Your expertise will be instrumental in identifying opportunities through business reviews, designing and analyzing experiments, and building scalable business intelligence solutions.
This role requires a strategic thinker with strong analytical skills, capable of translating complex data into actionable insights that influence executive decisions and operational improvements. You will also mentor junior team members and foster a culture of excellence and innovation within the analytics team.
- 8+ years of experience in senior analytical roles within the technology or finance industry
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, and/or R for data analysis and modeling
- Experience working with large, unstructured datasets and building data pipelines using tools like Databricks, DBT, Snowflake, Redshift, or similar
- Strong background in payments, product, or operations analytics
- Degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Data Science, or related quantitative fields
- Exceptional ability to derive actionable insights and communicate analytical findings effectively
- Experience designing and evaluating A/B tests, preferably in financial or operational contexts
- Proven track record of influencing senior stakeholders and decision-makers
- Experience mentoring or coaching junior analysts is preferred
- Lead the development of analytical capabilities to support servicing initiatives and improve operational efficiency
- Create and deliver executive-level presentations to communicate insights, findings, and strategic recommendations
- Design experiments and conduct quantitative analyses to test hypotheses about user behavior and servicing strategies
- Collaborate with analytics engineering and software engineering teams to enhance data infrastructure and ensure timely access to relevant data
- Develop, maintain, and optimize business intelligence tools and dashboards to support ongoing reporting and decision-making
- Partner with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvement and strategic growth
- Mentor junior team members, fostering a culture of analytical excellence and innovation
- Drive continuous improvement in data quality, processes, and analytics methodologies
