Product Designer

Location: New York, NY (onsite).
Salary: USD 170, per year.
Experience: 8+ years.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or a related field.

• Lead and deliver design projects of large and/or ambiguous scope across Instagram's product ecosystem.
• Take broad, conceptual ideas and translate them into useful experiences for over 2 billion users.
• Design flows and experiences that simplify complex actions into intuitive interfaces.
• Develop new experiences or layouts that evolve and define visual systems.
• Innovate with AI to create new capabilities, enhance personalization, or unlock new forms of value previously not possible.
• Contribute to strategic decisions shaping the future direction of Instagram products.
• Provide and solicit feedback from designers and a broader product team to continually raise quality, while also mentoring others.
• Lead cross-functional partnerships with product managers, engineers, researchers, and content strategists to oversee the user experience from conception through launch.
• Champion design craft and raise team standards by influencing how others design.

• Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 8+ years of product design experience with demonstrated impact on consumer products at scale.
• A portfolio that shows end-to-end ownership of complex, multi-surface product experiences.
• Experience leading end-to-end development efforts, driving progress with cross-functional partners, developing design roadmaps, and making high-impact decisions that balance user needs with business growth objectives.
• Expertise in advanced prototyping techniques, including functional prototypes or the use of emerging technologies.
• Comfort with data: using metrics, research, and experimentation to inform and validate design decisions.
• Proven leadership beyond product work that strengthens the team and positively impacts the work environment.
• Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize workflows and drive measurable impact (for example, efficiency gains or quality improvements).
• Experience implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews).
• Ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies.

Compensation for this posting ranges from USD 170,000 to USD 236,000 per year, plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location, and may include adjustments beyond base salary for bonus, equity, or incentives where applicable.
