Director, IT Finance

Position Overview

A large, diversified organization is seeking a Director of IT Finance to lead enterprise technology asset governance, financial management, software licensing, and data-quality initiatives.

This role sits at the intersection of Technology and Finance and is responsible for bringing greater structure, transparency, and financial discipline to the organization’s hardware and software asset landscape. The Director will oversee the governance and integrity of asset data used for cost reporting, budgeting, compliance, licensing, and executive decision-making.

This is not a traditional IT asset administration position. The ideal candidate has built a career in IT financial management, Technology Business Management, FP&A, or digital finance and understands how technology is financed, sourced, measured, and governed.

The Director will partner closely with Infrastructure, Security, Procurement, Technology Sourcing, FP&A, and business-unit leaders. Success will require strong financial judgment, data-governance expertise, executive communication skills, and the ability to influence stakeholders across a complex organization without relying on direct authority. The role will also help evaluate the current technology asset-management platform and identify opportunities to modernize manual processes through AI and automation.

Key Responsibilities

Technology Asset Governance and Data Quality

Own end-to-end governance of the enterprise hardware and software asset system of record.

Establish and enforce standards for asset ownership, data quality, documentation, and audit trails throughout the asset lifecycle.

Improve the accuracy and integrity of asset data across procurement, billing, CMDB, and IT financial-management platforms.

Identify and resolve discrepancies between source systems while reducing manual reconciliation.

Lead cross-functional governance forums and convert operational feedback into clear, enforceable standards.

Hold asset owners accountable for maintaining accurate data while building collaborative working relationships.

Serve as a primary point of contact for internal and external audits involving technology assets, software licensing, and compliance.

IT Financial Management and Cost Optimization

Apply financial discipline to technology assets, licensing agreements, renewals, and platform investments.

Analyze hardware and software utilization data to identify cost-recovery, deprovisioning, consolidation, and right-sizing opportunities.

Develop total-cost-of-ownership analyses and translate findings into actionable recommendations.

Partner with FP&A to align technology costs, general-ledger reporting, forecasts, and budget assumptions.

Deliver clear spend, risk, utilization, and optimization insights to senior technology and finance leaders.

Support enterprise cost-allocation, chargeback, and Technology Business Management reporting…
